There are separate areas for younger and older kids, plus open lawns, picnic space and plenty of room to run, so it’s easy to turn a quick playground stop into a full family outing.

Is there a more iconic Melbourne landmark than the Brighton Bathing Boxes?

All 96 of them have been sitting along Dendy Street Beach since the 1860s - originally built to protect beachgoer modesty and still looking almost exactly the same today. No electricity, no running water, just timber weatherboards and corrugated iron roofs filled with beach chairs and paddleboards.

They’re owned under a perpetual lease mostly restricted to local Bayside residents, often passed down through generations and regularly sell at auction for upwards of $400,000. For a box with no power or water! 😂

💡 Getting there is easy - hop on the Sandringham line from the CBD to Brighton Beach Station and walk 500 metres along the coastal trail. Or park right off the Esplanade on Dendy Street.

BIG NEWS … THE LION KING is coming in March 2027 🦁 👑👇🏻

The world’s #1 musical Disney’s THE LION KING Musical is officially coming back to Melbourne, opening at the Regent Theatre on 25 March 2027 and I SO cannot contain my excitement about this one. It’s been seen by over 127 million people around the world - are you next?!

The movie has been my favourite since I was a little girl. I’ve seen the stage show multiple times since I was young, and now getting to take my own kids feels like the biggest Circle of Life moment🥹🦁

And another full-circle moment… Nick Afoa is returning as Mufasa! I last watched him on this very stage in 2015 playing Simba, and now he’s coming back as the king himself 👑

If you’ve never experienced The Lion King live, be prepared 🎶

The costumes. The puppetry. The music (!!)

… that opening moment when NAAAANTS' INGONYAMA fills the theatre and the animals begin appearing through the audience… chills EVERY time!

Would your kids ride a CAMEL in Victoria?! 🐪😍👇🏻

This was easily one of the most unexpected highlights of our Murray River trip!

Just outside Echuca Moama, Billabong Ranch Adventure Park is set across a huge 500-acre property with enough indoor and outdoor activities to spend hours here.

Our favourite was defo the camel ride. We booked it for all 4 of us and the camels were so gentle that my youngest actually started nodding off 😂🐪

There’s SO much more to do too:

🐐 Horses, goats and cows

Camel rides run Saturdays at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, and I’d definitely book ahead.

👧 Ages 3-5: $37 and must sit with an adult

We spent a few hours here before heading into Echuca for a paddlesteamer ride and lunch at Wildergreen in Moama.

💡 Melbourne tip: Keep an eye on Laverton Market too. The ranch sometimes offers camel rides here for $15 if you want to give the kids a little taste closer to home!

The Aerial Playground at Enchanted Adventure is designed for children under 130cm, with elevated nets, tunnels, climbing challenges and slides through the trees.

There’s also a pram-friendly boardwalk, plus treetop high ropes for bigger adventurers, mazes, giant slides and plenty more to explore.

Did you know this Carlton playground sits on the site of Victoria’s oldest public playground? 🌳

Designed around 150-year-old Moreton Bay fig trees, Lincoln Square South feels like a little forest escape right in the middle of the city. Elevated timber play towers, rope bridges, slides, climbing, balance logs and rainforest planting all tucked beneath the most incredible canopy.

Free, charming and such a lovely stop on a Carlton or CBD day with kids 🌿
