Chadstone had been transformed into something you’ve never seen before 👀🏡

If you’re looking for unique things to do in Melbourne this winter, put this one on your list!

As part of .au’s brand new Light to Night Festival, acclaimed Australian artist has unveiled his first major exhibition in 3 years - and it’s completely free to visit.

Called HOME, the immersive walk-through experience recreates a full Australian weatherboard house inside Chadstone. Step through the front door and you’ll find beautifully aged interiors, nostalgic details and cinematic storytelling where you really feel like you’re not inside a shopping centre at all anymore.

It’s kinda haunting, beautiful and incredibly detailed. One moment you’re in a shopping centre, the next you’re wandering through a home that feels frozen in time.

But that’s just one part of the festival 👇🏽

✨ HOME by Rone
💡 Through The Looking Glass - a large scale light installation by Dean Norton & Studio John Fish
🍽️ World’s Longest Dinner
🍷 Exclusive dining experiences with some of Australia’s best food personalities
🎶 Live music and after-dark performances
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family friendly school holiday activities

Whether you’re into art, food, music or simply looking for something different to do this winter, Chadstone’s Light to Night festival has something for everyone.

📍 Chadstone Shopping Centre
📅 11 June - 12 July 2026
🎟️ FREE entry to HOME by Rone (bookings strongly recommended)
⏰ Approx. 20 minute immersive walk-through experience
⚠️ Includes immersive sound and some louder moments
🚌 There’s even a FREE shuttle bus running from Fed Square to Chadstone.

💡 Hot tip: This is likely to be one of Melbourne’s most popular free exhibitions this winter, so don’t leave your booking until the last minute.

Parents of runners - comment FENCED now👇🏽🏃‍♂️

If you’ve ever spent an entire playground visit chasing a toddler, worrying about a child darting towards a car park, or simply wanted somewhere a little more relaxed, these fenced playgrounds are absolute gold.

They’re also fantastic for families with multiple young kids, children with additional needs, or anyone who just wants that extra peace of mind while the kids play.

I’ve rounded up some of Melbourne’s best fenced and partially fenced playgrounds, from giant adventure parks and all abilities play spaces to water play destinations and local favourites.

And if you’re anything like me and always looking for new playgrounds…

Comment FENCED and I’ll send you my interactive playground map with 25+ fenced playgrounds across Melbourne, including fenced playgrounds, regional gems, water play parks and all abilities playgrounds plus a map with over 120+ regular playgrounds too ✨

Or check » https://melbournewithsiri.com.au/best-fenced-playgrounds/

Save this for the next sunny day ☀️

Best value membership in Melbourne 👇🏽

If there’s one thing I’ll always keep paying for, it’s our zoo membership.

Before this account, we used to go to one of the Vic zoos almost every week. Coffee, playground, a wander, maybe a keeper talk. It changes with the seasons so it never gets old!

Right now at Melbourne Zoo, the snow leopard cubs are out and they are stealing the show. We went around 11am and they were so playful 😍

Then we head to the giraffe lookout café and sit while watching the two baby giraffe brothers too.

Werribee has lion cubs out plus 3 elephant calves on the way, and last year we loved visiting the baby rhino there and the tree kangaroo joey at Healesville too. There’s always something new to see!

And now Dinos at the Zoo is on until 12 July, so you can easily turn it into a full day out.

Worth every cent.

Here’s what you also get with a membership 👇🏽
✨ Kids under 16 join free with an adult
✨ Pre-sale access to events and experiences
✨ Zoo News magazine + member content online
✨ Discounts across the zoo and beyond
✨ Free access to interstate zoos

And you’re supporting conservation work helping protect threatened species and care for the animals 🫶🏼

Psst… it also makes a great gift for a (first) birthday or Christmas!

📍 Melbourne Zoo | Werribee Open Range Zoo | Healesville Sanctuary
🕘 Open daily 9am–5pm

Tip: take the PT during school holidays if you can as parking fills up quickly.

🫶🏼 visited as members, footage from April the cubs have grown a bit now but are still adorable and more confident!

Melbourne CBD finally has a proper family-friendly pub 👀👇🏽

As soon as I heard Good Nature Hotel had opened in Federation Square, I had to check it out! Because finding a city venue with a playground you can actually see from your table is almost unheard of.

And it’s epic 🙌

The undercover terrace overlooks a fenced playground so the kids can play while you enjoy your meal!

What to expect:
✏️ Colouring activities
🤩 Free kids entertainment every Sunday from 12pm–3pm
🎈 Balloon twisting
🎨 Face painting
🦎 Reptile encounters
🏉 Plus face painters before every MCG match

The venue itself is huge, with multiple levels, beautiful modern interiors, rooftop spaces, big screens and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

This isn’t one of those places where the playground feels like an afterthought. The food was awesome and came out fast, the menu has plenty of variety, and I’d happily come back here with or without the kids.

🥩 Modern pub favourites
🍹 Cocktails and local drinks
👧 Kids menu available
✨ Great spot for lunch, dinner or pre-event drinks

It’s one of those rare spots where you can meet friends in the city, grab a great meal and not spend the whole time trying to keep the kids entertained!

📍 Good Nature Hotel, Federation Square, Melbourne

💡 Perfect before a show, after a museum visit, before the footy or while exploring the city with kids.

Melbourne’s favourite winter night out is back👇🏽

The Winter Night Market is back at Queen Victoria Market and if you’re looking for one of the best things to do in Melbourne this winter… this is it!

Every Wednesday night, transforms that unbeatable Melbourne atmosphere.

Some of our favourites here this year 👇🏽

🧀 MELTED serving raclette loaded sandwiches and crispy brie croquettes with fig jam
🥔 Spud Pappi with loaded baked potatoes topped with butter chicken and other delicious flavours
🔥 Mixed Bag for toasted marshmallows, gooey s’mores and campfire hot chocolates

✨ Live music and entertainment
🛍️ Specialty shopping and artisan makers
🔥 Open fire pits and glowing lights
🎶 A buzzing atmosphere that feels uniquely Melbourne
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family friendly and suitable for all ages

One of my favourite things about the Winter Night Market is that every visit feels different. You can come for dinner, stay for dessert, discover a new stall, listen to live music and wander the market with a hot chocolate in hand.
