Meaningful connections begin with ourselves.

As the holiday break begins, many school staff step away from their work communities and return to family, familiar spaces, and much needed rest. This pause is an important part of sustaining wellbeing. It creates room to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with what matters beyond the demands of daily school life.

For educators and school staff, the first quarter of the year often moves quickly. Stepping back now offers a valuable opportunity to check in with your energy, your goals, and your sense of balance. Reflection helps you understand where you are thriving and where support may be needed as you return in January.

The Staff Wellbeing and Professional Support Hub provides a confidential space to process your experiences, review your first term, and recharge with guidance from professionals who understand the education sector. Whether you are seeking clarity, emotional support, or simply a moment to reflect, the Hub is here for you.

Use this time to rest, reconnect, and prepare for a healthy and purposeful start to the new year.

Counsellors spend their days holding space for others. Listening deeply, supporting healing, and guiding people through some of the most complex and emotionally demanding moments in their lives.

In the process, their own professional and emotional wellbeing can often be overlooked. They carry so many ethical decisions, safeguarding responsibilities, and sensitive conversations. But who supports them as they navigate this work?

That is why confidential clinical supervision is essential for counsellors who want to sustain their practice safely and ethically.

Clinical supervision provides more than encouragement. It offers a structured space to process difficult cases, explore ethical dilemmas, and ensure that decisions align with professional standards and codes of conduct. Supervisors act as a certified professional sounding board, someone who understands the realities of the counselling field and the responsibilities that come with it.

Having a trained supervisor to consult with reduces isolation and helps counsellors provide safer and more effective care.

Meet the supervisors and specialists at our Staff Wellbeing and Professional Support Hub 👋

Through the Hub, our clinical supervisors offer a protected and confidential space for reflection, ongoing learning, and professional growth. Whether it is preventing burnout, managing ethical decision making, or strengthening skills, supervision helps counsellors stay grounded and confident in their work.

When counsellors have access to high quality supervision, everyone benefits. Clients receive safer and more informed support, and communities gain from healthier and more resilient practitioners.

“Ethical workplaces aren’t defined by policies. They’re defined by lived experience.”

In her recent conversation on the Education Leaders With Shane podcast, Yael shares why true workplace culture starts with what people feel, not what’s written. A simple first step? Audit one key area for clarity, fairness, and alignment with your values.

This is exactly what NexGen supports through our Ethical Employer Scheme and Respectful Recruiter Scheme, helping schools bridge the gap between policy and lived experience.

How are you taking care of yourself this holiday season?

A gentle reminder that even in a full and fast-moving season, your wellbeing matters too, especially for all school employees who spend the year caring for others.

Rest, connection, routine, and mindful choices help you return with clarity, compassion, and energy. Small acts of care today lead to stronger leadership and healthier school communities in the new year.

As you pause and celebrate, we hope these reminders help you slow down, breathe, and honour the moments that truly matter.

Culture is not built in statements or slogans. It is revealed in the moments when people choose to care for one another.

In this reflection our co founder Mark James shares an experience that began as an ordinary school day and quickly became a reminder of what strong systems make possible. It shows that culture is not abstract. It lives in how people respond when something goes wrong and in the structures that allow those responses to happen with clarity and compassion.

Schools that understand this do more than talk about community.

They build systems that support people reduce uncertainty and allow kindness to move quickly. They make sure that when someone is in need the organisation knows how to act because the system is designed to protect people.

This is the foundation of ethical employment.
It is leadership that builds safety into the everyday.
It is operational design that reflects humanity.
It is community care that shapes how a school functions.

And it is a strategic advantage because when people feel supported and secure they bring trust commitment and their best work.

Ethical employment is not just a belief. It is a way of building schools where culture turns into action.

Many high performing women in the workplace are living in survival mode, even when they appear calm, capable, and in control.

Pressure, transition, and continual responsibility often leave little space for genuine wellbeing.

In the 4th episode of the Professional Women and Wellness Podcast, host Karima McKenzie speaks with Dr. Yael Cass, Founder of NexGen Talent Group and Ethical Employer, about what it truly means to move from survival mode to sacred living.

Their conversation explores:

• The workplace systems that keep women operating under constant strain
• How honesty, alignment, and clarity support wellbeing
• What changes when we acknowledge fear instead of suppressing it
• What sustainable wellbeing requires from individuals and organisations

At NexGen, this conversation reflects the heart of our work.

Through our Wellbeing and Professional Support Hub, we see every day that employees do not struggle because they lack resilience.

They struggle because environments are not designed to support their wellbeing, growth, or sense of safety.

Sacred living is not only a personal aspiration.
It is an organisational responsibility.

When workplaces create the right conditions, employees shift from coping to leading with intention, confidence, and agency.

This episode offers grounding insight for organisations committed to supporting the wellbeing of their people and for women seeking a more intentional way of living and leading.

Art therapy online. Is it really possible.
And the question we hear even more often:
Do I need to be talented in the arts.

The answer to both is simple.
Yes, it works beautifully and no, you do not need to be an artist.

We hear these questions often from professionals who are curious about art therapy but unsure how it fits into online wellbeing support. So we spoke with Jasmine, one of our counsellors in the Staff Wellbeing and Professional Support Hub, who brings art therapy into her online sessions.

Art, she reminded us, creates connection even through a screen. When the space is supportive, creativity can open doors to honesty, reflection and healing.

Online art therapy does not depend on a studio or specialist tools. Jasmine works with simple prompts, everyday materials, and helps participants set up a small comfortable space at home or in the office. The process stays grounded, accessible and deeply supportive for anyone.

The tools may change but the heart of the work remains the same. It is about connection, creativity and reflection. For many, being in a familiar environment deepens the experience and allows people to settle more fully into what emerges.

Jasmine brings this same thoughtful approach into her supervision work with counsellors, offering a reflective space to explore their practice, process challenging moments and continue growing with clarity and confidence.

If you are seeking reflective, compassionate and professional wellbeing support including art therapy and clinical supervision, our hub offers counsellors like Jasmine who bring depth, presence and genuine care to every session.

This is why trust sits at the heart of the Ethical Employer philosophy. It is not just a value but a practice. One that shapes how leaders communicate, how systems are built, and how people are supported through change.

In every school community, trust is the foundation that allows people to learn, lead, and grow together. It cannot be demanded. It is earned through consistency, fairness, and care.

When staff feel trusted, they bring their full selves to the work. They collaborate more openly, make better decisions, and create environments where students thrive.

This is why trust sits at the heart of the Ethical Employer philosophy. It is not just a value but a practice. One that shapes how leaders communicate, how systems are built, and how people are supported through change.

We work with international schools to strengthen this culture of trust. Because when people feel trusted, they give their best and that transforms entire organisations.
