Every now and then I wonder if there's anything I'd change about the Black Bay 54.

Then I put it on... and the answer is usually no 😄

Coffee, breakfast and the Himalayan Project.

Still in the honeymoon phase with this one. The lightweight titanium case and that dial make it hard to take off.

The more time I spend with the Miyako, the more it grows on me.

That textured dial, oversized numerals and vintage-inspired bezel somehow come together without feeling overdone.

Easily one of the best values in the microbrand world.

Bought this Mocha Vintage Suede Strap from B & R Bands specifically for the Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze.

It originally comes with a stainless steel pin buckle, but I swapped it for the original bronze Oris buckle. Call it OCD if you like, I wanted everything to match.

The dark mocha suede suits the bronze case far better than the lighter brown leather the watch came on, in my opinion. It completely changes the character of the watch.

The biggest challenge wasn't finding a dark brown suede strap, I already had one. It was finding one that tapers from 20mm to 16mm so I could reuse the original Oris bronze buckle.

Really happy with how this combination turned out.

I've been trying the B&R Bands Milanese mesh bracelet on the Speedtimer SPB513J over the past few days, and I have to say, it's an absolute pleasure.

I think the fine mesh complements the Speedtimer's classic design really well, and the slim deployant clasp keeps it comfortable on my wrist without adding unnecessary bulk as usual.

Looks right at home on this watch, in my opinion.

Some watches impress from across the room.

The CITIZEN isn't one of them.

Its beauty reveals itself slowly. The texture of the indigo washi paper dial, the framed date window, the eagle emblem, the subtle play of light across the hands.

It's a watch that quietly rewards those willing to look a little closer.

Sometimes, the best details aren't the ones demanding your attention. They're the ones waiting to be discovered.

A watch. A phone. And enough time.

Every week, I drop my boy off for class and have a couple of hours to wait before it's time to pick him up again.

It's not long enough to head home, so I usually end up sitting in the car.

I've realised that's become my little watch studio.

A watch, a phone, whatever light happens to be around, and enough time to experiment.

Today's subject was The Citizen AQ4106-26L.

Waiting in the car this morning while my boy finished his class, I noticed the sun streaming through the sunroof onto the back seat.

Seemed a shame not to put the Serica in the spotlight.

Some of my favourite watch photos have come from moments I never planned.

Just good light, a few quiet minutes, and a watch I love.

I've wanted to try the Alpinist on a Milanese bracelet for a long time.

I tried a couple of Omega-style mesh bracelets before, but on my 6.5" wrist they never quite worked. The mesh itself became too stiff and the clasps always felt a bit too chunky.

This one from B&R Bands uses a much slimmer deployant clasp, and it completely changes the experience. Comfortable, flexible, and surprisingly unobtrusive on the wrist.

I wasn't sure whether the polished mesh would suit the green Alpinist, but I think it gives it a slightly different personality without losing what makes the watch special.

Sometimes a simple strap change is enough to make an old favourite feel new again.

One thing this hobby has taught me is that you're always looking for new ways to photograph the same watch.

Today I'm sitting in a waiting room while my car windscreen gets replaced. Most people would scroll their phone.

Instead, I spent the time photographing the SSC813 on a plastic chair and a decorative pot plant.

Sometimes the challenge isn't finding a new watch to photograph. It's finding a new way to photograph the one you already own.

The things we do for the hobby.
