The Common Bronzewing (Phaps chalcoptera) is a beautiful native Australian pigeon found across much of Australia, including Melbourne. It lives in forests, woodlands, parks and bushland. It mainly eats seeds and grains and usually feeds on the ground. Its name comes from the shiny bronze, green and purple colours on its wings.
