Disaster Management in Sri Lanka

The very nature that nurtures all living beings has shown an unusually adverse face in recent times. Around the world, we see nations harming their own people without mercy, and we struggle to understand such cruelty. But what troubles us even more is when nature itself — which we often regard as the ultimate intelligence — seems harsh and unforgiving toward humanity.

It is true that, as humans, we have not cared for our Mother Nature the way we should. Some of what we are witnessing now is beyond our comprehension. Yet, there is still much we can do.

We can pause and reflect.

We can help someone in need, even in a small way — it may mean more than we realise.
We can stand with someone who is grieving, for our presence alone can be healing.
And above all, we can spend time with ourselves, strengthening our inner world and making decisions to improve our character, compassion, and resilience.

In times of disaster, rebuilding begins not only with physical actions but also with renewed humanity.
