It's the topic dominating our Mosman Living forums, as well as much of the mainstream media's airtime at the moment. Will the government proceed with selling off public land around the HMAS Penguin naval precinct at Middle Head?

The Harbour Trust is inviting community members to attend its next public meeting, either in-person at their Mosman head office or via Zoom. It's on Monday 15 June between 5.30pm and 7pm.

Time will be provided for the Members of the Trust to answer pre-submitted questions from the public and engage in discussion at the end of the meeting.

Attendees can register and submit a question via https://www.harbourtrust.gov.au/

The Harbour Trust is tasked with the stewardship of sites of nationally and internationally significant cultural, natural, industrial and heritage value located around Sydney Harbour.

Business Call Out: Festival of Mosman

Local businesses are being invited to express an interest in joining the upcoming major event Festival of Mosman: Encore, happening from Thursday 22 to Tuesday 27 October.

The vibrant mega weekend is set to attract plenty of visitors to beloved events including the SpringFeast Night Market, a two-day Street Party and the popular Children’s Fair.

Numerous speeches made in the past by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have come to light, in which he argues that foreshore land - including around Middle Head - should be protected at all costs. "It is a great opportunity and everyone walking along there, whether you are a millionaire or a pensioner, gets the same view. That is why issues of public space are very important and cannot be compromised."

Warringah MP Zali Steggall has pointed out the contradiction between these words and the decision to sell off 67 military sites including in Mosman. "The Prime Minister himself warned that once these lands are lost, they are lost forever. So what has changed?"
