The Buderim Male Choir will perform a selection of Australian themed songs on Saturday 11th March at the Beerwah Community Hall, and on Saturday 18th March at the Buderim Memorial Hall.
Included in the program will be a performance of `The Nambour Song' the words of which were rediscovered and sung again at the 2017 Nambour Together event in Quota Park.
Before then, the song was last heard at a Nambour State School concert in July 1907.
Choirmaster Mitch Meyer describes the performance as:
"The concert takes a narrative form and commences from the Dreamtime through to Settlement, Transportation, Colonialism, Federation, ANZAC and on to modern Popular times. The attempt is to present a very broad brush illustration of the music and some poetry that encapsulates Australia. As such, I guess it is, in and of itself, almost an historical document. While we sing about Australia generally we also take some time to look at Queensland and the Sunshine Coast more particularly. That's where 'Nambour Town' comes in. It fits in quite strongly to the narrative story-telling we're attempting."
