Over the last six years, we’ve sat down with more than 100 Novocastrians. We’ve listened to neighbors in their 80s and 90s tell us things that—quite frankly—made our jaws drop.

Sadly, we’ve lost many of these legends since filming. Seeing their faces in these photos reminds us why we do this: once a story is gone, it’s gone for good.

Your Holiday Challenge: 🎄 If you’re gathered with family this week, find the oldest person in the room. Don’t just pass the gravy—ask a question.

“What was life like when you were 16?” * “What was the hardest thing you ever survived?” * “What’s the one thing that still fills your heart with joy?”

Trust us, you’ll be better for it.

A massive thank you to the 250,000+ of you who watched our films this year. We’re currently deep-diving into our next project: "How Coal Shaped Newcastle." Do you have a story? Do you know someone who does? Raise your hand in the comments.

See you in 2026!

Here's what Grace Frey from Bernies said. "Witness Newcastle's LGBTQIA+ history like never before. In their own words, from those who were there - the triumphs, the struggles, and the unbreakable spirit of community that shaped our city.
"Newcastle: Generations of Pride" chronicles the lived experiences of Newcastle's LGBTQIA+ community across decades. From the dark days of persecution to the bright moments of celebration, this documentary captures the raw, honest, and powerful stories that have been passed down through generations - and some that have never been told until now.
This is more than a documentary - it's our shared history, our collective resilience, and our love letter to the generations who fought so we could dance freely today. Come hear the stories that made us who we are.”
