This is why 1629am went off the air.

Police are investigating after an electric cable was damaged in Newcastle West overnight, causing power outages to more than 1,500 homes in Hamilton South, The Junction, Cooks Hill and Merewether.

A temporary solution was put in place by midnight, with only 20 homes remaining without power as Ausgrid continues to repair the cut cable.

Hi all 1629am is back on the air at high power, the high power transmitter is back up and running, thanks to Greg for fixing the transmitter.
We were running on our low power backup.

Hi All, I have returned from working away and I have adjusted the audio on the backup transmitter, so it should sound a lot better.
The main transmitter is still not working and is being looked at the moment so should be back to full power sometime this week all going well.

1629am has been hit with lightning and the main transmitter has died, we have been able to get our low power transmitter up and running. Will know more tomorrow on how long it will take to restore in the meantime if you are having trouble you can stream us on.
