What a special experience.

The staff did a great job keeping everything safe and controlled for both the dolphins and visitors during the feeding program.

We learned some cool facts about dolphins and even got to know the regulars that show up for feeding. It's worth noting that the feeding is carefully managed - adults only get 3kg, compared to their usual 18-21kg daily intake. No human contact and strict hygiene protocols in place for all feeders.

Last night was truly unforgettable!

Witnessing a first-time Flatback Turtle mumma lay her eggs and make her way back to sea was incredible.
We then helped relocate the eggs to safer grounds under ranger supervision.
Fingers crossed we get to see the hatchlings make their way to the ocean!
Huge thanks to Mon Repos Turtle Centre for this amazing experience.

What a lovely surprise this was, just had to share. Plenty of birdlike, turtles 🐢 living in the pond and wallabies and kangaroos all around. Only 15 mins from Townsville City. Just need to time it better next time as the Cafe is open Friday to Sunday only 😕

📍 Bowen to Townsville: Big Things and Bigger Smiles

There isn't a dull stretch on a North Queensland road trip — especially when the Big Mango in Bowen is your starting line. Nothing says “tropical holiday” quite like posing with a giant piece of fruit!

A bit up the road in Gumlu, things get even fruitier — a roadside market bursting with local goodies and a Big Pumpkin and Big Watermelon standing guard. Queensland sure loves its oversized produce, and honestly, we’re here for it.

Next stop, Home Hill, where the local art and quirky sculptures bring plenty of character — the perfect excuse to stretch your legs (and grab a coffee, obviously).

Then comes the showstopper: the Burdekin Bridge in Ayr — the Silver Link that ties North Queensland to the rest of the state. At 1.1 kilometres long, it’s not just a bridge — it’s the kind of crossing that deserves its own road trip playlist.
