The Infrared Podcast /// EP268// Ft. DJ Bully (Stephen Bulfield)
-------------------------------------
Born in Liverpool and raised in North Wales, he started young—touring Europe and the U.S. as a percussionist with the National Welsh Youth Orchestra before most kids had left school. Straight out of school, he joined the BBC at Television Centre, working across some of the network’s biggest productions. His early career reads like a backstage pass to pop culture history—filming with icons like David Bowie (and later skiing with him in Switzerland), crossing into East Berlin after the Wall fell, and producing footage from the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
After launching his own production company, he travelled the world—shooting for broadcasters and personalities from London to Los Angeles, presidents to punk bands. By 1999 he was in Melbourne, editing for ABC’s The Arts Show and producing award-winning documentaries like Kurtal – Snake Spirit and the ABC’s global Millennium broadcast Air and Other Invisible Forces.
Now based in Perth Hills, he’s swapped the studio for the decks—earning an Honourable Mention at YourShot WA 2025 for a debut DJ set that caught judges off guard. Expect stories that move from Bowie to Berlin, broadcast control rooms to festival dance floors—proof that reinvention doesn’t come with an age limit.
