The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks.
* After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:10 pm.

Here we are 50 years on.
We never forget Christmas Eve 1974 when the warning sounded out that Cyclone Tracey would strike Darwin. Wind gusts increased between 10pm and midnight on Christmas Eve, and then in the early hours of Christmas Day Cyclone Tracey hit Darwin. The highest recorded wind gust from the cyclone was 217 kilometres per hour (135 mph), which was recorded around 3:05 a.m at Darwin Airport. The anemometer failed at around 3:10 a.m, with the wind vane destroyed after the cyclone's eye. The Bureau of Meteorology's official estimates suggested that Tracy's gusts had reached 240 km/h. Certainly a day in our history we will never forget.

📣Over the past 3 weeks Triple M has been rallying behind the Ronald McDonald House Charities Central West NSW Wishlist Campaign.

🎁Seeking gift donations from the community for mums, dads, boy and girl teens and children aged 5 - 12 years old.

👏The response from the community has been nothing short of amazing! We can't thank you all enough for your kindness and support.

🚗Today, Neil Gill and the Triple M team packed the BT50 Ute thanks to Orange City Mazda and drove down to the house to put all the donated gifts under the RHMC Christmas Tree.

😍There were already a couple of children checking out the tree and ready to pick a present to take home with them.

🌟Triple M would like to thank Rebecca and her team at RMHC for all their hard work!

👍 SMALL RISES IN CANOWINDRA - BUT NO FLOODING CONCERN 👍

Our volunteers on the ground at the NSW SES Canowindra Unit have observed that there are no significant river rises on the Belubula River at Canowindra and minor flooding is unlikely.

Small rises in the river have been observed upstream at The Needles but, as the photo suggests, this has very little impact downstream in Canowindra.

With weather conditions easing currently and no significant rain predicted in the coming days, the NSW SES Central West Area is not expecting any flood warning products to be issued for the Belubula River based on current predictions.

We will keep an eye on conditions should the weather take a turn for the worse and our volunteers are on stand-by should we see unexpected rain in the coming days.

If you need the assistance of the NSW SES, call us on 132 500.
