Auto Nostalgia - Mitsuoka Viewt

Ever seen a car that makes you do a double take? 👀

Meet the Mitsuoka Viewt — the delightfully quirky Japanese retro ride that looks like a 1963 Jaguar Mark 2, but lives a very modern life. First launched in 1993, the Viewt blends classic British charm with Japanese reliability, and it’s become Mitsuoka’s best-selling model for good reason.

Originally based on the Nissan March (Micra), the Viewt has evolved with the times — switching to the Nissan Note, and most recently the Toyota Yaris for the 2023 Viewt Story. Over 30 years, around 13,000 have been sold, inspiring a whole retro-car movement in Japan.

Old-school style, modern manners — and heaps of personality 🚗✨

Auto Nostalgia - Austin 1800 Land Crab

The Austin 1800 Land Crab was innovative for its time, with a spacious interior, rigid bodyshell, and advanced Hydrolastic suspension that delivered comfortable ride and handling superior to many rivals. Its front-wheel-drive layout with space-efficient packaging gave excellent passenger and luggage room, and it even won European Car of the Year in 1965.

However, it suffered from awkward styling, earning its “land crab” nickname, and early reliability issues such as engine oil smoke from a mis-marked dipstick.

Despite strengths in comfort and engineering, its looks and mechanical quirks limited broader success.

Sandown Revival Set to Launch in 2026!

Melbourne is set to welcome a brand-new motorsport festival with the launch of Sandown Revival Motoring Festival, a celebration of racing and motoring culture at the iconic Sandown Racecourse on January 17-18, 2026.

Brought to life by the team behind the revival of Australia’s oldest continuous motorsport event – the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival

This exciting new addition to the motorsport calendar will blend
high-speed action with classic motoring heritage.

Featuring over 500 exotic, restored and replica vehicles
both on display and on the track, Sandown Revival will showcase SuperSprint and Regularity racing, allowing spectators to get up close to the cars and drivers – something rarely possible at major race events.

Event Director Nicholas Heath is excited to bring this motorsport experience to Melbourne, following the success of similar events in regional Victoria. "We’ve seen the huge appetite for this style of event in Geelong, and we’re excited to bring it to Melbourne.

Sandown is a classic track with incredible motorsport
heritage. We’re going to celebrate that, have some fun and enjoy great cars while meeting legendary race drivers."

Beyond the racing, Sandown Revival will offer an extensive motorshow, automotive exhibitions, vintage fashion, food trucks and entertainment, making it a must-attend event for motoring enthusiasts and families alike.

Event Highlights:
• Two days of racing action at Sandown Raceway
• 220 vehicles competing in SuperSprint and Regularity racing
• 350 classic, exotic and historic cars on display at SuperClassica and Classic Motorshows
• Vintage fashion show and prizes
• Food vendors and automotives exhibitors

Equity One 32nd Historic Sandown - November 8, 9, 10 2024

This year’s Equity One Sandown Historics will attract a strong lineup of true Historic cars from the ‘20s to the ‘80s in a three day bonanza of great motor sport action. Sir Jack Brabham, founding patron of the VHRR, would be proud to see the Brabhams, Lotus’, Chevrons, Elfins and Lolas all there in force and battling it out in customary open wheel tradition.

The thundering Formula 5000s will also enjoy making their presence known with their ground shaking noise and performance. These 5-litre open wheelers thrilled Australian fans during the 1970s and featured in those epic battles known as the Tasman Series.

Historic Winton organised by the Austin 7 Club Inc in association with the HMRAV 27th & 28th May 2023 - Winton Motor Raceway, near Benalla Vic.

Competitors in the 46th Historic Winton are putting the final touches to their vehicles and are ready to head to Winton Motor Raceway for another epic weekend of Australian historic motorsport on 27th and 28th May.

Historic Winton - Australia’s longest running and most popular 4 x 2 historic race meet is set to thrill crowds with both races and car park displays.

Spectators will file in with their chairs, sunscreen and umbrellas to see a spectacle of cars, motorcycles and sidecars from 1920s to 1980s on the track at Winton Motor Raceway.

Head organiser and Austin 7 Club President Len Kerwood said that the weekend would be as action-packed and exciting as those in pre-Covid times.

“We seem to be back to ‘normal’ with spectators extremely keen to get their fix of historic motorsport,” Len said. “Online ticket sales are at a record high so we know that the weekend will be lively.

“It’s worth walking around the competition paddock to see the race vehicles and learn of their histories which are pretty impressive,” he said.

“The Regularity One event has a 1933 Singer car that won the 1934 Australian Grand Prix and Bob Rosenthal, the highly respected historic motorcycle champion, will be back racing a classic 1962 Norton ESA, to name a couple of examples.”

Out in the car parks, clubs and spectators bring their historic cars, trucks, utes, motorbikes, caravans, buses and all manner of vehicles to form one of Australia’s biggest show’n’shine displays.

Alongside the races, there will be official displays celebrating significant car and motorbike anniversaries and ones by specialist groups like the Wartime Living History Association, the Military Brotherhood Military Motorcycle Club, emergency vehicles and postie bikes.

There is so much to do around the track that there is a complimentary bus to help visitors get from one side of the track to the other.

“As the only racetrack with camping alongside it, Winton Motor Raceway will host hundreds of campers, consisting of both motorsport fans and grey nomads,” Len said.

He said two other features for the Historic Winton weekend was the Benalla Historic Vehicle Tours on the day prior, 26th May, that take in the sights and delights of Benalla and surrounds.

Historic Winton is also proud to partner with the Benalla Art Gallery for the Hot Lap exhibition by sculptor, Eamon O’Toole who replicates winning race vehicles as sculptures.

Discounted tickets are available at: ticketebo.com.au/historicwinton. Full priced tickets will be on sale at the gate.

Erebus Motorsport has sold one of its race-winning Mercedes E63 AMG Supercars.

The chassis known as -EM-03-12 has been bought by Penrite Oil, which was its major sponsor during the latter stages of the 2015 season.

It has since been restored to the specification in which it raced at that year’s season finale at Sydney Olympic Park, including original engine and retro-style livery.

The handover was completed today, with current Erebus driver Brodie Kostecki taking -EM-03-12 for laps around Winton.
