Farewell and Welcome

After 16 years of outstanding service and dedication, Pat Sanders has stepped down from the 2025 Archives Group. We extend our heartfelt thanks for her remarkable contribution—Pat’s presence, insight, and commitment will be deeply missed.

Enjoy your time in Victoria, Pat.

At the same time, we’re delighted to welcome Rose Benson to the group. Rose brings a wealth of knowledge about KSSHS and a distinguished background in English and Drama, having directed at least ten drama productions during her teaching career. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the energy and expertise she’ll bring.

The Kentians Archive Group was delighted recently to receive a donation from former KSSHS student Gregory Corbitt. Greg was a striker for the Australian Men’s Hockey Team and played at the Barcelona Olympic Games (1992). The team won the Silver Medal and Greg has donated the uniform he wore on that occasion when, after defeating The Netherlands 3-2, the Australian Team was beaten by Germany two goals to one to be awarded the silver medal.
Current students may be interested to see the green shorts and shirt displayed in the Kentians Foyer of the Science Block.

Many of you will recall Mollie Dinham who first arrived at the school in 1960 and left in 1984. After retiring she travelled a lot; often to 'exotic' places which she wrote about in 3 published books.
We have a supply of her third book, 'More Travels to Exotic Places' to give gratis to anyone who would like to see what she got up to after she left her educating life.
The book will need to be picked up, at our office in the school's Science Block. For details please email us at [email protected]

Today we have a group of pictures that those of us who sat through their Junior and Leaving Certificates will relate to.
The results were published in The West Australian which was delivered to most households in the morning but they were also posted on boards outside Newspaper House in St.George's Tce the evening before.
That's where you went if driven by the anxiousness to know how you fared. Jostling with hundreds of other kids to get close enough to read your name and count the numbers following it before being shuffled out and then perhaps returning to see which subjects you failed and then coming back in to the fray check on a friend or two. There was time in the next morning to peruse the results carefully and perhaps discuss with the parents what the next move might be.
Apart from the crowd scene photo all other material has been kindly contributed by Beverley Smith (1953-55). She donated it to the Kentian Archives and we're able to share some of it with you through this page.

The 16th Dec, 2009 was a happy day for a lot of Kent Street youngsters. Called 'Activity Day' it centred around the swimming pool but included a water slide and ball games. Here are some pics. Perhaps you can help us with some names and the year level.
