I accidentally signed myself up to get on stage and cry in front of a room full of strangers a few months ago.

Let me explain 😅

I thought I was saying yes to attend a workshop to learn about pitching. I didn’t actually think I would be GETTING ON STAGE AND PITCHING. 😅 I have a huge fear of speaking in front of people. I can do it on my podcast . I can do it on other people’s podcasts. I can do it one-on-one with new clients.

But every single time I’ve had to speak on a stage of some sort, even a virtual one, I’ve fallen apart and become a blubbering mess. So my goal for last Thursday night was simple: Get through the pitch without crying.

I was so nervous about crying, or even whether I would follow through with the pitch at all to be honest, that I deliberately didn’t go out of my way to invite anyone to come and support me.

And I failed at that goal. Spectacularly. 🤣

I blame the pitch before mine. A 16-year-old boy with a heart of gold got up there and put everything he had into his pitch… and the waterworks started. It wasn’t just me though, there were definitely some onions being cut around that whole room.

Oh s**t, I was up next. No time to regroup. No time to pull myself together. So up I went…

And cried.

I projected my cry voice through that whole fu***ng pitch while my body stood there shaking 🫨. My voice was shaking, breathing was difficult and I’m fairly certain I blacked out for portions of it.

I defaulted to my self-deprecating humour and did my absolute best, holding on for dear life. 🤣 I finished it and that’s what I’m proud of.

People told me afterwards that they did actually understand what I was saying, which was a relief 😂. I didn’t manage to stop myself from crying, but I managed to keep speaking while I cried.

Now I’m determined to crack this whole crying-while-public-speaking thing because apparently running a business means continuously signing yourself up to do s**t that makes you SO UNCOMFORTABLE. 🥴😅

Last Thursday night I was pitching something I care deeply about: using photography and storytelling to reveal what makes our local businesses, and the people behind them, worth travelling here for.

My previous reel showed a little behind the scenes of that process. I put a post in some local Facebook groups asking business owners if they wanted to be part of this project, and these women said yes. They trusted me to learn about them, hear their stories and photograph what I saw in them.

What started as something I was doing for a pitch has turned into so much more than that. We’ve formed deeper connections. We want to collaborate with one another. We’re learning about each other’s businesses, ideas, knowledge and the different ways each of us is trying to contribute something good to the world.

What an absolute joy it has been for me to learn about these women. Each one is powerful in her own right. Each carries her own wisdom, story and gifts. And each is putting herself out there in some way because she believes she can make something better. That was really the point of my pitch.

When you think about the ripple effect one person can have it feels so infinite. If enough of us work towards making our little corner of the world better, we do change the world.

Thank you so much to the Byford Co.Lab team for helping me navigate these fears, pushing me well outside my comfort zone and creating an event where all of us could get up there and give it a go.

I may have cried. But I fu***ng did it. ❤️

Are you ready for brand photography that captures more than what your business looks like, and reveals what makes your work genuinely special?

My signature brand photography experience, the Content Bank Builder, is designed for women who are ready to be seen more fully in their business.

This is not simply a three-hour photoshoot.

We begin with a complimentary 30-minute clarity call to see whether we are the right fit for each other. If we both feel aligned, we begin uncovering the deeper story behind your business: your mission, your gifts, the people you are here to serve and the bigger vision you are building towards.

My speciality is seeing the things you may have missed, dismissed or never considered particularly special about yourself. Those details often become the most powerful and memorable parts of your brand.

Together, we will:

✨ Deep dive into your business, values, mission and future direction

✨ Explore your unique gifts and the story you want your images to communicate

✨ Build a detailed shot list and creative plan for the day

✨ Find the right location and I personally scope it beforehand to uncover the best settings

✨ Spend up to three hours creating intentional, natural and story-rich images

✨ Build a bank of 50 finished photographs you can use throughout your website, social media, launches, promotions and future content

I am naturally an ideas woman, so our conversations often uncover far more than photography. You may also leave with fresh ideas for your content, offers, business growth, organisation or technology, depending on what emerges while we explore your vision.

The result is not just a collection of beautiful photographs. It is a clearer, more confident and more visible expression of who you are, what you do and why your work matters.

Investment: $1,000

Travel within a 50 km radius is included. If you would prefer to hire a studio or another private space, the venue cost can be added separately.

If this feels aligned with where your business is heading, send me a message to arrange your complimentary clarity call.

A few weeks ago I went mushroom hunting with Martin Martini from Belly of the World Mushrooms here are a few snaps I took at the event. I highly recommend attending one of his mushroom meanders the next time he is running them. He travels around Australia and overseas exploring the places mushrooms are waiting for him. He’s a wealth of knowledge and a great entertainer. You won’t be disappointed.

Married for 29 years!!! Please correct me if I’m remembering our conversations wrong! 😅

Woweeee. To know, love and choose someone for that many years is something truly special. I am completely in awe of these two.

While celebrating their love, Christina and Nathan realised they hadn’t had professional photos taken together since their wedding. So of course, we had to change that!

In another chapter of my life, I worked alongside Nathan for a few years, so this photoshoot gave me the beautiful opportunity to finally meet the love of his life. Even back then, he always spoke about Christina with so much love, admiration and respect. It genuinely stood out to me, especially in an industry where people don’t always speak so openly about the tenderness within their relationships.

So, when Christina Miller and akitaowner asked me to photograph them, oh my goodness, was I excited!

Here are a few of my favourites from our time together, alongside their beautiful words about the experience. 🤍

Helouise and her husband Eddy gifted me a heap of photography equipment and I finally got the opportunity to say thank you in the form of taking photos for them when Helouise had her 50th.

Here’s a small glimpse into her special night.
