🇧🇩 Hamza Choudhury on the reception he gets in Bangladesh on international duty in an interview with Leicester's official website:

"The first time we went over, we went back to my village, so it was really rural. It was a big part of my childhood growing up.

“[The reception] is indescribable. The lads speak about it quite a lot, it’s surreal. I don’t think it will ever be normal, that level of it.

"As footballers, we get a lot of attention while we’re in the UK, but it’s nothing like the reception I got out there. It’s amazing.

"People can say it might be scary or overwhelming, but honestly, it’s so much of my heart over there. They’re all just there for positivity and to show me love, so it’s such a good feeling.

"That’s why I love spending time with them, just giving them an extra few minutes and whatnot, because they travel so far to come and see me."

"I've been in every away stadium for four or five months with the crowd shouting, 'You'll be sacked in the morning.' There's no profession - architect, teacher, doctor, journalist - that 60,000 people want you to lose your job. But our profession is so well-paid we can accept this. If you don't want it, go do another job.

"I have a writer friend who always tells me, 'I wish my books could be criticized, destroyed, like you do when you lose, because it would mean a lot of people are reading me.' It's true; how many painters wish their work was seen by millions of people?

"If things go wrong, people comment that. Why? Because it's very emotional, pure adrenaline. It's my team against the neighbour's team. I'm going to laugh at them if I win, they laugh at me if my team loses. I put my frustrations on 11 players running around in shorts wearing football boots. It's pure energy. And you have to understand they criticize you.

"The day I retire, don't worry, no one will criticize me because I'll disappear. If you want to do this and it's your passion because you like it, in the end you like it, then you're exposed to this. If not, dedicate yourself to something else. But in any specialty, if you were lucky enough to be observed, judged, admired, praised, criticized the same way, you'd be lucky to have the luck we have in our profession."
