🧡 PLATING UP WA IS BACK! 🍽️✨

The month of June is all about celebrating the bloody amazing produce WA has to offer. Let me tell you - it has never looked better! 😍🌾🍳 Right across the state venues will be plating up WA-inspired dishes - YESSSSS!

Here are my top picks from local cafes and restaurants that are plating up with the best of the west:

👉 Halo Espresso - Open Banh Mi with crispy Linley Valley Pork belly, bacon XO, pickled vegetables, coriander, fried egg on Loafers Artisan sourdough. 📍 South Perth
👉 Two Dogs Laughing - Mr Mojo - Banksia smoked mandarin mojo, Linley Valley Pork, mandarin and feta salsa, La Tortilla taco, mandarin hot sauce. 📍 Beaconsfield
👉 Orchard Espresso Roleystone - The Orchard Benedict - apple cider and saffron hollandaise with soft poached Forrestdale eggs, local baby spinach & soft sourdough. 📍 Roleystone
👉 Springs Tavern & Bottleshop - Mt Barker House-Smoked Chicken with hand rolled pasta, broccolini, sun-dried tomatoes, local basil pesto. 📍 Beechboro

📍 Head to these local spots, try the dishes, and share your experience using

🧡 I hope you'll celebrate with me and get out and about to try the amazing food scene in WA.

Heading our for brekky on WA Day? What you need to know about surcharges 👇

☕🍷🍻 If you're grabbing a takeaway coffee or heading to the pub for lunch this long weekend - you could come across a public holiday surcharge. What are the rules?

Paying a surcharge should never come as a surprise. You should be made aware of any weekend or public holiday surcharges before you decide to order or buy from a restaurant, pub or cafe.

For example - A sign that says "A surcharge of 10% applies on public holidays"

So, if your local pub fails to let you know your pint of beer is going to cost a little more on a public holiday, this may be a breach of the Australian Consumer Law.

Learn more about surcharges 👉 https://www.consumerprotection.wa.gov.au/announcements/commissioners-blog-paying-extra-what-know-about-surcharges

Just when I thought udon was the only reason left for me to visit the Pier st end of Murray St - helllooooo 🤩

from Melbs supply the beans and there’s a damn good selection of toasties and bagels - 🥯 - I’ll be back for a kimchi tuna melt 🫶🏻

They have a gorgeous leather bound note book for customers to leave their stories - enthralling, heartbreaking, uplifting - ALL THE EMOTIONS - the journalist in me wants to find the people who wrote some of those stories.

I’ll be back Gabe - to try that toastie and find out how Tony from page 21 is doing.

Stayed local this morning because my son was getting hangry 🤜🏻 is rammed to the max every weekend and I can see why - it’s back to brekky basics here and it’s bloody good, well priced and served fast.. with not a hard poached egg in sight. Amazing!

They even have a big brekky including a tea or coffee for $22 - hello? 2005 called! 🤩

Kids had milkshakes off course - AND THEY’RE SERVED IN THE TIN. Isn’t that just the best way to get a milkshake?!

Oooh la la - brekky at is LUSH!

Brioche French toast with PROPER SALTY salted caramel and topped with fruit and vanilla icecream. Decadent but sooo bloody worth it.

Fried chicken, bacon and pancakes were 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 well seasoned bird and crispy bacon perfection perched on top of fluffy AF pancakes - what’s not love 🫶🏻

Beef brisket croque madame was a mighty brekky. Beetroot puree with earthy dukkah and feta added a certain je ne sais quoi to this rich French-style sandwich.

Kids are taken care of here too - creamy scrambled eggs and buttery sourdough were a delight!

Coffee comes courtesy of and it’s damn good.

I have to comment on the service here too - it was bloody incredible. So friendly, attentive and fast. They make everyone feel so welcome to this cute little cafe in Ballajura

Brekky at - food, coffee, service - they had the winning trifecta 🧡🧡🧡

Sweet potato cakes served with Greek yogurt and bright but punchy harissa - wow. 🤩 topped with spinach and perfect poachies - I’d order this dish every time!

Polenta eggs benny is a delicious take on a classic - fried polenta cakes, poached eggs, buttery but tangy hollandaise - yep - so good! You can choose bacon, salmon or ham - there’s no wrong answer with a dish like this.

I’m not normally one to try weird and wonderful coffee combinations but I bloody love pandan - so had to give the “pandanator” a whirl - filtered coffee over ice topped with a creamy pandan, milk and coconut whip. Oh. My. God. Cure for a hot steamy morning!

I love that there are “kid sized options” for a handful of their dishes like waffles, eggs and pancakes.

There’s also a play area for the kids and plenty of outside seating for those with a pup in tow. Might have to bring Ronny the rescue greyhound next time for a puppacino.

you always have my brekky loving heart! 💓

Benny & the jets - eggs benny like you’ve never tasted before. Poached eggs on top of smoked and crowned with wilted spinach, kimchi and Korean bbq hollandaise… it was punchy, bright, crunchy and just bloody good! The potatoes are cooked FOUR times - steamed, smoked and double fried - the flavour is *chef’s kiss*

Umami scram - silky eggs with chilli shrimp sambal and served with a fresh salad dressed in nuoc cham 🌶️ this is one of those dishes that has you saying “oh. My. God.” With every bite. It truly has UMAMI.

Granola is my thing at the moment - and this beauty was perfect for a warm morning. Fresh fruit, yogurt, berry compote and house made granola - superb!

Coffee is thanks to 🫶🏻

Kids were stoked with their pancakes AND milkshakes in the tin… serving a milkshake any other way is a crime - I said what I said 👊🏻

And with a name like Two Dogs Laughing - of course they’re pooch friendly here. Dogs get a free puppycino! The team here also support and ending greyhound racing - which my hound Ronny LOVES.

Chef Libby has also started making her own sauces using a Weber and smoker - love to see Carnarvon produce on the ingredient list! She’s such a big supporter of using local in-season produce 💚💚💚 thank you giving me a bottle to try!

.merchants in Como delivered on the brekky goods!

🥞 Pancakes come served with chantilly cream, fruit, caramel coconut and berry coulis (although my son ordered them without this). Teeny tiny meringues gave an extra burst of sweetness.

🌺 Muesli loaded with fresh fruit and topped with yogurt and local honey tasted as good as it looked. It was almost a shame to have to dig in and ruin it 😂

🍳 Creamy, well seasoned scrambled eggs with bacon - traditional but so easy to mess up… not here. They nailed it. Look how fluffy those eggs are!

Coffee is - an expert barista served up one perfectly made creamy flat white.

Where else is worth a try in Como?
