Tucked into a wrought iron gate in the back streets of Salerno was a tiny iron man, arms wide, legs splayed like Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. He was either trying to break through the bars towards magic or keeping the ordinary at bay. From a distance he was just a wrought iron gate but close up, he was a whisper of magic.

Senses of Morocco is an exploration of Morocco - Casablanca, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes and the Sahara via the creative retreat at Cafe Tissardmine. The result is an exploration through creative inspiration in writing, and through art and photography.
🎈
It’s not a guide or itinerary. It’s a collection of moments recorded through sounds, textures, colours, fragments of thoughts. Each piece reveals a mood, a gesture or sensory moment. It’s how I experienced Morocco - through movement, stillness and reflection.
🎈
The streets are narrow crevasses in a mountain
Dark and never ending
Bend down to turn a corner
Around and around
No end, no beginning.
🎈
You can view it as a slow scroll, a poetic notebook, or just wander through it like an artisan’s market.
🎈
It’s live now. See Linktree link in bio.

A walk calls me
to the medina.
It’s 50 hectares of winding
lanes to nowhere and back.
🎈
A fragment from Senses of Morocco — my new visual and writing project now live on Behance.
🎈
I’ve paired words with photos, places with senses, movement with stillness. If you’re drawn to travel stories that are more mood than map, this is for you.

✨ Senses of Morocco is live! ✨

Senses of Morocco is an exploration of place – Casablanca, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, and the Sahara – framed through a creative retreat at Café Tissardmine.
🐪
It’s not a guidebook. It’s a sensory record. A series of moments:
🚩People-watching in Casablanca’s medina.
🚩A rooftop before sunrise.
🚩The highs and lows of camel travel.
🚩The cool hush of a Fes courtyard.
🚩The blue stillness of magical Chefchaouen.
🐪
If you’re into slow travel, storytelling, or just want a little wander on your screen, check it out!

BOOK REVIEW
This is a detailed, thoroughly researched book with a comprehensive bibliography. Dorothy spent years interviewing Helen’s family and people in the organisations that were bequeathed her work. Dorothy has produced an amazing biography of an amazing woman and her teacher. Helen who was deaf, blind and mute, with her teacher Annie’s amazing help, earned her degree at Radcliffe, learned to speak, lectured for years, mixed with the rich and famous and counted them her friends - Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Mark Twain and so many others. She wrote books, studied and read prolifically, and was in a movie. Her story is an incredible testament to what perseverance and loyalty can bring.
