Every time I play a live set at in Ettalong Beach on the Central Coast, I feel at home. It’s a beautiful garden run by a lovely family business that serves the most creative, heartfelt, and community-driven hotdogs in town.

It’s in special places like this that I reconnect with my roots. One day, I found myself singing my own version of the beautiful song ‘Hijo del Sol Luminoso’ by the incredible Chilean artist Joe Vasconcellos.
Suddenly, the lyrics began to speak to me on a deeper level, and got me singing it with some variations.

“ ‘América’ some call me, because I live in the high mountains (America is the whole continent)
We are brothers and sisters of the African, who came from far away. Who also suffered by my side.
And the ones in power wanted all of us in slavery…

We resisted. We keep resisting.
And now we are millions…”

When the Groove Takes Over 🌀

The ritual had been set. Now it was time to go deeper.
As the ancestral opening dissolved into the mix, the dub beat dropped and everything shifted.

Heavier. Hypnotic. Inevitable.
‘s trombone snaked through the low end like smoke, finding pockets in the rhythm that no one else could hear.

On the MPC, I locked into the pulse, building the world by layers, letting the bass do what bass does: move bodies before the mind can even ask.

Then returned, but different. Gone was the stillness of prayer. This was fire. Her choreography surged with the beat, each movement a conversation with the groove, precise and untamed at once.

The Birth of a Ritual 🌌

What began as a planned solo opening by Raph Hatz, First Nations artist and guardian of the yidaki, became a moment of pure magic. Backstage at Tumbalong Park, just minutes before taking the Vivid Sydney stage, I witnessed an impromptu jam between Raph’s voice and his cousin Yarran’s yidaki. The raw emotion and power of their connection filled the room, pulling us all into a circle as if we were part of an ancient ritual, blessing our performance under their guidance. In that moment, I knew: this had to be the opening of the show.

With hearts aligned, Raph and Yarran agreed to share the stage together, offering the audience the same magic we had just experienced backstage. Here’s a glimpse of the first two minutes of GabzaK & A Dance Of Worlds at , where tradition, spontaneity, and futuristic soundscapes collided in perfect harmony.

In the performance, joined to complete the scene with a breathtaking contemporary dance. Her movements wove seamlessly into the music, adding another layer to this emotive moment, a dance of gratitude to Country and Mother Earth. and rounded out the experience with their masterful trombone and percussion, elevating the entire performance.
