💔 Just read a post from another hairdresser in the US who had a client grieving the loss of his grandaughter in the recent Texas floods. He opened up mid-haircut, and shared his pain and loss of his grandaughter and she held that space for him ~ carrying the emotional weight into the rest of her shift.
😢
Most people don’t see what we carry behind the chair. We’re not just working on your hair ~ we’re holding grief, joy, trauma, secrets, breakdowns, and breakthroughs… all in a 1-2 hr appointment. Then we wipe our hands, breathe, and move on to the next.
Don’t get me wrong…
Most days it’s great stuff - warm, happy conversations, sharing all the good stuff happening in life. Other days, it’s crushing as life has a way of throwing us curve balls.
So, in short I really just wanted to say…
To every one of our beautiful customers who have become our friends ~ we carry your stories, your tears, your laughter, and your trust with us every day. You sit in our chairs, but you also sit in our hearts.
To my fellow hairstylists - we’re not just stylists. We’re accidental therapists who also make magic with hair, and to every hairdresser reading this ~ I see you. I feel you. You are not alone.
Thank you to all our beautiful hair friends for letting us be part of your life ~ not just your hair. 🙏❤️
We love what we do.
We are Hairapists. ✂️❤️
