Celebrating Heritage: Tamang Society of NSW Hosts Seminar on First Tamang Gyan Pahichan
The Tamang Society of NSW is hosting a one-day seminar on “First Tamang Gyan Pahichan" on Sunday August 17 at 11:30 at Wentworth St. Parramatta, NSW, 2150 to commemorate the 93rd Tamang Identity Day. This seminar aims to promote awareness and discussion about Tamang identity, culture, and history. The Tamang people are an indigenous ethnic group from Nepal, known for their rich cultural heritage and traditions.
The highly anticipated event will feature a stellar lineup, including chief guest Bishwa Bhakta Dulal (Aahuti), a prominent Nepali political and social analyst. Presenters Amrit Yonjan Tamang, a respected linguist, and Dr. Mukta Sing Tamang, a renowned anthropologist, will share their insights. Additionally, Lalkaji Lama, a senior Nepali artist and Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Fine Arts Academy, will attend as a distinguished guest.
The Tamang Society of NSW President Raj Pakhrin shared, “We would like to invite all community members to attend the seminar which will be a historic step towards promoting and preserving our indigenous language, culture and identity. The seminar will provide a valuable opportunity for young Sydneysiders (of 2nd generation) to learn about the rich cultural heritage and history of the Tamang community through intellectual discourse.”
