TOMORROW: A Fishing Inquiry Could Become Reality.
Tomorrow, we will move a motion in the Legislative Council to direct the Government to commence an inquiry into fisheries management in Western Australia.
The inquiry would investigate critical issues impacting our fisheries, including fish stock management, marine parks, offshore renewable energy projects, illegal fishing, shark depredation and whether government agencies have the resources needed to do the job properly.
With the numbers in the Upper House, this motion can pass — but MPs need to hear directly from the people who rely on fishing for their livelihoods, recreation and local economies.
The future of fishing in WA is too important to stay silent.
Contact Labor and crossbench MLCs tonight and tell them to vote for a Fishing Inquiry tomorrow.
