The 25 Most Valuable Beatles Records Ever Sold On Discogs
The most expensive Beatles records ever sold on Discogs include rare releases, first pressings, and more.
The Beatles weren’t just the biggest band of the 20th century. They were also some of the most collectible. Their global popularity, decades-spanning influence, and deep discography have made Beatles records a cornerstone of vinyl collecting.
But not all Beatles records are created equal. Some versions, issued in limited runs or unique formats, now sell for tens of thousands of dollars on Discogs.
To understand what makes certain Beatles records so valuable, we explored the Discogs database for the 25 most valuable Beatles records ever sold through the Marketplace. Because certain pressings sell multiple times for different amounts, we focused on the single highest price paid for each version of the record.
Therefore, there are many Beatles records here that appear several times. However, each one differs from the others. Usually, they come from different pressings, feature misprints, or are different audio styles.
Unsurprisingly, early UK pressings dominate. Every record in the top five comes from the band’s first two years and fetches massive sums, especially in Near Mint condition.
Misprints and withdrawn releases are also highly prized. The most infamous withdrawn record “butcher cover” version of Yesterday And Today, which features the fab four covered in blood and holding raw meat and baby dolls, sells for several thousand whenever one pops up.
From debut singles to late-era LPs, here are the 25 highest-priced Beatles records sold on Discogs.
#1
“Love Me Do“ 1964
It’s fitting that the most expensive Beatles record to sell on Discogs is the promotional copy of the band’s first single, “Love Me Do.” Since it’s a promotional copy, there are no bells or whistles here.
There’s no artwork or liner notes. Instead, the record originally came in a striped Parlophone sleeve, and on the label, it reads “Not for Sale” in all caps.
The record sold in 2017 and was in near-mint condition. Other copies have sold on the site since, but none for as much or in such pristine condition.

#2
Please Please Me 1963
This U.K. first stereo pressing of The Beatles’ debut Please Please Me was only available for a few weeks in 1963.
Several key features distinguish it from later pressings. First, the labels are black with gold print, unlike the black and yellow labels of subsequent releases.
The publishing credit for four tracks is attributed to “Dick James Mus. Co.” instead of Northern Songs. Lastly, the “Photo: Angus McBean” credit on the cover is lower, starting at the end of the word “songs.”

Please Please Me 1963
This version of The Beatles’ debut features the same attributes as the ones listed above — Dick James credits, the differing label, and the photographer’s name’s placement.
The difference here is that this version is in mono. At the time, mono was a much more popular listening format, leading Parlophone to press many more mono releases than stereo ones. Since there are fewer stereo versions, like the one in the first position, they often sell for slightly more.
Sold for $9,733

The Beatles And Frank Ifield On Stage
1964
First put together by Vee-Jay Records in 1964 to cash in before losing their publishing rights, Jolly What! The Beatles And Frank Ifield On Stage mashed up four previously released Beatles tracks with eight songs from Frank Ifield under a misleading “live” title.
A last-minute version swapped the original cover art for a Beatles-focused sleeve that dropped any mention of Ifield. Fewer than 100 copies exist, making it one of the rarest Beatles LPs ever.
Fittingly, this cash grab reissue features the liner note typo: “It is with a good deal of pride and pleasure that this copulation has been presented.”

#5
Please Please Me 1963
This variant of Please Please Me is from the second pressing, which occurred shortly after the first.
The main difference between the pressings is that the “Dick James” credit now appears as the “Northern Songs” credit on several tracks. Additionally, the second pressing is the final one to feature the black label with gold writing rather than the yellow text version that would appear on later pressings. It’s known among collectors that there are still only a few hundred of this version to exist. As mentioned in the early copies of Please Please Me, this stereo version often fetches higher prices than its mono counterpart.
