Detectives have charged two men after Lego was stolen during an alleged armed robbery in Sunbury last week.

It is alleged the men entered a toy store at a shopping centre on Evans St, armed with a weapon, about 4.30pm on Thursday, 7 August.

Music lovers are in for a nostalgic treat with the launch of Reelin’ in the Years with Chris Ball, a brand new show on community favourite Sunbury Radio starting this Saturday 2 August.
Broadcasting every Saturday from 12 noon to 3pm, Mr Ball says each show will take listeners on a musical journey through one unforgettable year from the 1950s to the 1980s as he plays classic top 40 hits.

A multi-pronged community campaign over a number of years to see the town’s George Evan’s Museum collection put back on permanent display – including an online petition started by Sunbury Life – is starting to bear fruit.

Hume City Councillors voted Monday 28 July to accept officer’s recommendations to put the museum’s collection on display at Sunbury’s Macedon St Global Learning Centre (GLC), in an area currently used as an art exhibition space. The decision was made with the vocal support of Sunbury councillor Kate Hamley.

A campaign group opposing HiQ’s proposed waste-to-energy plant in Bulla has been launched. It is not clear who is behind the No Sunbury Waste Incinerator group, but it has attracted more than 100 members since launching Friday 4 July.

“We are a group of local residents who are highly concerned about the waste-to-energy Incinerator being proposed by HiQ (formerly Hi-Quality),” state the group’s admins.

Construction is now underway on East Village Sunbury, a new neighbourhood retail and civic centre.
The multi-million dollar development is being delivered by Birchmore in partnership with principal capital partner IDA, and forms part of the broader Kingsfield community on Lancefield Rd.
When complete next year, the 2.4ha centre will span approximately 9,250sq m and include a Woolworths supermarket, speciality retailers, a food and beverage precinct, a town square, swim school, medical centre, and other essential services.
