Modhera Sun Temple: Ancient India's Solar-Aligned Architectural Masterpiece

Built over 1,000 years ago by King Bhima Deva I of the Solanki dynasty, the Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat is a celestial calendar carved in sandstone.

Positioned on the Tropic of Cancer, the temple is perfectly aligned with the Sun's rays during the Spring equinox, bathing the sanctum in golden sunlight - an intentional design inspired by Vedic cosmology.

These functional elements reflect ancient Indian astronomical knowledge from scholars like Aryabhata and Brahmagupta, who envisioned concepts like a spherical Earth long before Copernicus.

Modhera is a living equation that unites faith with physics, and art with astronomy.
