Delighted to announce the next in our Votive Offerings Series - KITCHEN’S FLOOR // MUTTER

KITCHEN’S FLOOR is an independent alternative rock band from Brisbane, formed in 2007, known for their raw, lo-fi sound. They’ve built a dedicated underground following, releasing music on labels like Siltbreeze, Negative Guest List, R.I.P Society, Quemada, Bedroom Suck Records, Bruit Direct Disques, HoZac Records, Petty Bunco, and Eternal Soundcheck.

Founded by Matt Kennedy, the band began as a DIY solo project. Their 2009 debut Loneliness is A Dirty Mattress became a touchstone for Brisbane’s underground scene. Their second album, Look Forward To Nothing, featured a cover photo of Kennedy in his share-house, a hub for DIY shows.

Kitchen’s Floor has toured the U.S., UK, Europe, and New Zealand, with their 2022 album None Of That named 4ZZZ’s Album of the Week. They’ll perform a stripped-back set featuring Matt Kennedy and Pat The Shark.

MUTTER is all about electro-acoustic experimentation, broken equipment, and looping illusions.

Sufi mystic H-I-K says, “A person does not hear sound only through the ears; he hears sound through every pore of his body. It permeates the entire being.”

As new eyes and hands emerge of sacred sound vibration, you, too, renew all through. Now, hear Mutter unveil [in a beam of light] his cosmic child: Mooncast—( Tropical Cancer Rort ) file under Australian esoteric electronics.

Join us Saturday 22:2 for the first in our Votive Offerings series.

CLOUD TANGLE is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Amber Ramsay, which combines visual media and musical composition to evoke a contemplative and dreamy mood.
The project formed in late 2014. Curated through bedroom production and expansive instrumentation; the project forms its own unique sound that falls into a dark dream-pop genre with elements of lo-fi and orchestral instrumentation. Ethereal vocals soar above intricate melodies and lush synthesizers, drawing you into a floating atmospheric state. The sonic elements gather with complex texture, while lyrical content stems from concepts of philosophy, human emotions and experiences.
Presently, Cloud Tangle plays sparsely live in Brisbane, with the release of Dreaming Again (4000 Records/False Peak Records). The project’s third full length album is a conceptual dream odyssey that aims to rebel against an age of spiritual poverty and the death of detail. Ramsay’s latest writings filter in experiences of writing music for short films, as well as various projects and bands over the years such as Noir et Blanc and sleepclub.

SPIRIT LIGHTS
Finding inspiration in modular synthesis and sound collage, Spirit Lights is the ambient electronic project of Joshua MacGregor (formerly one half of electronic/dance duo Dream Coast). After the sudden shutdown of clubs in 2020, Joshua found himself drawn to the stillness of ambient music, soon amassing a collection of analogue synth recordings.
Featuring swirling arpeggios and dream-like pads, Spirit Lights owes as much to the work of modern acts Jon Hopkins and James Holden as to soundtrack legends Tangerine Dream. Spirit Lights’ debut EP and collaborative work with Noir et Blanc has seen support from 4000 Records, 4ZZZ & Triple R.

Tickets for this show are limited . 🔗 in bio.

Join us SATURDAY 4:1 for our first gathering of 2025.

Timothy Fairless ~outcome from his Gone 2 Ground residency.

Through a lens of language, Timothy’s time at GLÓR extended investigations into the intersection of q***rness and environment that has underpinned much of his sound and video art for the last half decade.

Timothy Fairless is a music-maker and video artist from Meanjin (Brisbane) who spent his formative years on the Sunshine Coast. His work is ambient and atmospheric, made with heavily processed field recordings, acoustic instruments and synthesizers.

His catalogue features 3 albums and 7 EPs released on Berlin-based Unpercieved records, London-based Flaming Pines, independently, and in 2025 he will release an edition on L.A.-based Dragon’s Eye Recordings. These releases have been supported by performances at festivals and in theatres, incorporating immersive visual accompaniments. His most recent album, Rising Water, was made entirely with 4 glasses of water. It received radio play across Australia and on the BBC. A glowing review from Utility Fog called the album “powerful and engrossing”, while 4ZZZ FM’s Chris Cobcroft concluded the album is “a hyper-real evocation of the Australian landscape”.

Timothy has produced music and sound for film, television and theatre, including scores for SBS/NITV, works and performances featured at the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art, the Art Gallery of South Australia, and the Seymour Centre in Sydney, and scores for independent films. His videos and installations have been exhibited in Australia and Thailand, and he has performed across Australia and Hong Kong. Not only a prolific solo artist, but Timothy has also collaborated with artists from Australia, Hong Kong and Germany as a co-writer, producer and remix artist.

Immersive and expansive, Timothy’s sound and video explores diverse themes, from climate change to his q***r identity and deep investigations of our relationships with technology and each other.

By sifting through personal video archives of life in 1990’s Nambour, interviewing contemporaries, and creating new field recordings, he’ll extend his investigations into the intersection of q***rness, neurodivergence and environment that has underpinned his sound and video art for the last half decade.

Timothy’s residence will culminate in a public showing on Jan 4 at the space and tickets are limited.

Tickets go live at 6pm tonight.
