🎉🌱 20 YEARS MARRIED 🌱🎉

Yo glenn_sharpe — Camden’s unofficial Mayor, lawn whisperer, storm spotter, and one of the OG Sydney Weather Nerds. Two decades ago, you said “I do,” and unlike Sydney’s summer forecasts, you actually stuck to it. Respect. 👏

Your lawn isn’t the only thing thriving under your care — marriage, family, and community too. Twenty years of mowing down the weeds, weathering the droughts, and still keeping the grass greener on your side of the fence. 🌾❤️

From everyone at Sydney Weather Nerds: thanks for always sending in the storm snaps, fog reports, and Camden wisdom. You’ve been with us from day dot, and we couldn’t be prouder to raise a digital glass to you and your better half today. 🥂

Here’s to the next 20 — may the love stay lush, the storms stay photogenic, and the council finally give you the mayoral chains you clearly deserve. 😉👑

Happy anniversary, Glenn & Mrs Glenn ❤️!

☀️ Morning Nerds!
Sydney woke up between 13–19°C overnight — warmest along the sticky coast, cooler in the west. If you were tossing & turning, blame the humid blanket of overnight cloud.

🌤️ Today’s Forecast: Temps: Peaking around 25-27°C with early Cloud cloud clearing to mostly sunny. Winds: W–NW 20–30 km/h, gusts 40–50 km/h at times. Coast gets buffeted, west gets baked. Rain risk: Close to zero. Any cloud build-ups are cosmetic only.

💊 Health & Lifestyle Outlook
🌸 Pollen: Cranking up — get ready for sneezefest. 🤧
☀️ UV: Spring sun is mean. Slip, slop, slap.
🔥 Fire risk: Elevated — gusty dry westerlies + low humidity = 🔥 red flag.
😤 Mood: Slightly edgy — nothing like a dry gusty westerly to give the city collective cranky pants.
🤡 School holidays: winds will make kids feral, sorry. Time for noise cancelling headphones & va**um

☀️ Tonight: mostly clear skies as drier cooler air moves in. Temps 8-14°c & possibly cooler in the west.

Sydney weather: gusty, dusty, and definitely not interesting 😑

🌆 Evening Nerds!
Sydney served a two-speed spring today: harbour 23–26°C, west up to ~30°C. Seabreeze on the coast, toaster-mode inland. Satellite shows patchy cumulus streets and a skinny short-wave flicking past to our south — enough texture to keep radar-watchers twitchy.

🌙 Tonight’s forecast: Temps: Sliding to 18 on the coast, 13 in the west. Skies partly cloudy but *should* clear overnight. Gusty NE'erly seabreeze swinging light NW'erly. Rain/Storms: Still a brief shower or pop-up pulse storm risk, favoured west/southwest of the city where leftover convergence + moisture linger. Short, sharp, and gone.

💊 Health & lifestyle
• Pollen: Up — hayfever roulette continues.
• Sleep: Mild and comfy once the breeze dies.
• Roads: Mostly dry; watch for a sneaky wet burst out west.

☀️ Tomorrow: sunny but windy, with gusty to strong westerlies expected especially from lunch onwards. Temps 25-27ºC depending on how hard westerlies blow.

🔮 Sneak peek
• Thu: Sunny, mid-20s, maybe late cloud tease.
• Fri: Southerly gatecrash, cooler ~21°C.
• Weekend: Rebound to mid-20s, mostly dry.

🦜 Storm bird report: Yes, the channel-billed cuckoo’s been yelling — classic spring omen — but birds key off warmth & humidity, not CAPE spreadsheets.

Sydney weather: teasing drama, delivering meh.

🌅 Morning Nerds!

Sydney woke to 10–15°C overnight — not too chilly, not too sweaty, just that awkward middle ground where you don’t know if you need a doona or a sheet. Clear skies mostly, bar a few ragged clouds trying (and failing) to crash the party. Models actually behaved for once — no mass embarrassment this morning. Winds stayed light, so no bins doing the tango at 3am.

☀️ Today’s Forecast: perfect, gorg Spring school holiday weather. Temps heading for a toasty 25–32°C, the coast will be moderated by his soon that NE'erly arrives. Skies mostly sunny, just token high cloud (Instagram filter levels only). Rain: LOL nope. Storms: Not even in your wildest daydreams. 😪

💊 Health & Lifestyle Outlook
🌿 Pollen/dust: Spring flexing again, antihistamines on standby.
🌊 Beach/BBQ vibes: Very yes. Perfect arvo to “forget” your chores.
🗣️ Migraine: low triggers today
🦴Arthritis: generally good for Mr Ritis thanks to warmer days & milder nights.

🔮 Tonight: more of the same as last night, mostly clear skies, mild, chance of fog in the W/SW/NW. Temps 10-15°C

Have a great Tuesday Nerds, it's Hunter Weather's fav day of the week. Oh & 2 months til New Years eve WTAF!? 🤯

🌆 Evening Nerds!
Sydney maxed 22–25°C today — warm enough to make you think “spring vibes,” but the sky never really committed. Bits of cloud, hints of moisture, but in the end… Sydney delivered a vibe check more beige than bold. Radar teased with offshore blobs, inland got more love than the city. Southerly change kept things fresh, but nothing to brag about.

🌙 Tonight’s Forecast
• Temps: Dropping to 8 - 14°C (cooler west, milder coast).
• Sky: mostly clear

💊 Health & Lifestyle Outlook
• Mood: Risk of mild boredom-related grumpiness.
• Sleep comfort: Good — crisp air, windows open kinda night.
• Transport: Roads dry, your excuse for being late tomorrow is officially cooked.

☀️ Tomorrow: GLORIOUS - Sunshine rebounds, max 25 - 32°C — basically a perfect spring day. A nice reset button after today’s meh. Gusty arvo seabreeze if you're planning a day at the beach.

🔮 Sneak Peek
• Wed: Another stunner, ~25-32°C, sunny.
• Thu: Still warm, but showers could sneak in.
• Fri: Cooler dip, max ~21°C.
• Weekend: Early call — fine, sunny, mid-20s.

Sydney weather: always promising drama, but sometimes just handing us beige instead.

🌤️ Morning Sydney Forecast – Monday 29 Sept 🌤️

Morning Ned's! It's a new week, school holidays, hands-up who wants to deport then already? 🤭🤣 good news is you'll be able to kick them outside, as only isolated sprinkles forecast - more below 👇🏻

Overnight Recap: Sydney did its best impression of a leaky tap overnight – a few drips here, a sprinkle there – but totals barely hit 4 mm. Temps sat mild at 13–16°C, so no need for extra doona wars last night.

Today’s Forecast: It’s a bit of a “meh Monday” vibe. After that coastal line of showers drifted offshore, skies are clearing inland with just the odd cloud loafing about. Expect daytime temps around 20-22°C on the coast, 23-24 in the west. Cooler than the weekend, thanks to a burst of southerlies mid morning keeping things fresh. They'll ease off in the arvo with a humid easterly pushing in.

Health & Lifestyle:
🌿 Pollen: Levels starting to climb again, so allergy fam – keep tissues handy.
☕ Energy levels: Post-weekend blues meet Monday cool – double espresso recommended.

SatPic / Radar Watch: This morning’s radar had a cheeky coastal line brushing through, but inland? Crickets. The sky is clearer than your boss’s calendar after 3pm on a Friday.

Tonight: Settling into a cool one, back down near the low teens, dry skies holding firm.

Sneak Peek: Tuesday flips the switch – warming fast to 26°C, sunshine locked in. Classic Sydney spring mood swing.

👉 So, today’s the breather. Think jeans + light jacket, keep the umbrella at home unless you really like cosplaying as Mary Poppins.

🌆 Evening Nerds!

Sydney maxed 22–27°C today, storms fired all around the Basin — Hunter, Illawarra, even Nowra — yet here we sat under the Cone of Disappointment™. Isolated showers only dared poke the west. Thunderstorm FOMO is now a diagnosable condition. Reason why: you can see on the picture that blue line. That's the trough, and it remained stubbornly anchored to the Blue Mountains. Once the sun sets, it'll relocate to the soupy waters of the Tasman Sea, dragging with it the chance of isolated showers and possibly a weak storm.

📈 Daytime Recap: Warm but not scorching. Radar lit up everywhere else while Sydney skies stayed stubbornly meh. Storm lovers pacing balconies like teenagers waiting for texts that never come.

🌙 Tonight’s Forecast: Temps: Settling into 12 thru 18ºC, a muggy mild night. Isolated showers and storm risk for the West this evening, and even then you’ll need binoculars + optimism.

💊 Health & Lifestyle Outlook
Mood: Severe risk of storm envy.
Sleep comfort: Mild night, decent sleeping weather (unless you’re awake doomscrolling lightning trackers).
Transport: No issues, unless you’re driving 2 hours south chasing a cell.

☀️ Tomorrow: Cloudier, cooler, max 20-22°C. Scattered showers, 1-15mm possible, but spread unevenly. Don’t expect thunder therapy — tomorrow’s a damp towel of a day.

🔮 Sneak Peek
* Tue: Sunshine bounce, 25–26°C.
* Wed/Thu: Still mid-20s, sunny, stable.
* Fri: Cooler dip ~21°C.
* Weekend: Early read: dry, mid-20s.

Sydney weather: once again proving it’s a masterclass in storm-tease and emotional damage. Stick around, we’ll keep refereeing the sky’s commitment issues.

Morning Nerds! Sometimes this forecasting gig just literally sucks. Every model had Sydney smothered in cloud and showers this morning, but look outside — blue skies, just a ragged cumulus cameo. Epic model troll.

🌙 Overnight Recap: Temps all over the shop: 7°C in the west, 18°C on the coast. No rain. Everyone expected mid-high cloud band to roll in, but the sky was instead crystal-clear blue with just token cumulus hanging around like extras in a bad soap opera.

Why so wrong?
1. Moisture budget botched: Models “saw” mid-level moisture streaming in, but it’s actually too shallow / advected wrong.
2. Jet dynamics mis-timed: Yesterday’s lee-wave junk confused parameterisation, so today’s lift was overestimated.
3. Ensemble herd behaviour: Once one global model runs with a fat cloud band, the rest follow like lemmings.

📆 Today's Forecast: The southerly gate-crashed the coast at dawn, slapped a cool cap on the beaches, and shoved the storm party west.

Storm risks
* Brief heavy rain, gusty outflows 60–80 km/h, hail not impossible in the beefier updrafts west.
* Rain totals: many 1–5 mm, pockets 10–15 mm under a slow mover.
* Thunderstorm asthma: moderate risk this arvo on the outflow boundaries west; keep puffers handy. 🤧⚡

Timeline (Sydney Basin)
* Now–12 pm: Southerly entrenched coast; clearer breaks inland. Isolated coastal showers small.
* 12–3 pm: Convergence sets up from SW→W suburbs; watch for towering cumulus.
* 3–6 pm: Peak storm chance west/SW; stray cells may limp to the inner west, decaying near the coast.
* After 7 pm: Cooler S–SE flow basin-wide, showers persisting isolated.

🛰️ Satpic Reality vs. Models
* Models = solid cloud/rain band over Sydney.
* Satpic = blue skies, a few cumulus scraps, rain well east & south.
* Translation: the models just face-planted.

🛌 Health & Lifestyle
🌸 Pollen: High, blue skies let it rip. 🤧
🗣️ Migraine: Fewer triggers today thanks to clear skies, but wind shift later could spark some.
⛳️ Outdoor plans: Absolute gold morning. Models were wrong — enjoy it.

🌌 Tonight: Mild, 18°C coast, 12–14°C west. Cloud might creep in but after today’s embarrassment… who even knows.

Why the bust? Moisture didn’t line up, lift was overcooked, and global models played follow-the-leader into failure. This isn’t the SSW punching us yet — it’s plain old forecast faceplant. Enjoy the sunshine, it wasn’t supposed to exist!

🌆 Evening Nerds!

⚠️ HEALTH WARNING - SUNDAY 28 SEPT 25 ⚠️ High to severe triggers for:
⛈️ Thunder-asthma: cloudband, high levels of dust & pollen combined with storms create a high to very high trigger risk for thunder-asthma.
🗣️ Migraines: strong pressure shifts with cold front may trigger an episode. Please be prepared.

Sydney maxed out 25–29.9°C today. NW winds promised 60 km/h gusts but fizzled at ~40 — basically the weather equivalent of a dud fireworks show. Add in that persistent lee wave cloud hogging the skyline all day and you’ve got a forecast that aged as badly as Albo's $275 power bill promise.

🌙 Tonight’s Forecast: meh. Mild, muggy, sweaty. Temps 'dropping' to to 15ºC in the west, 20ºC on the coast. Meh! Sky: cloud thickening from the NW late, with NW winds holding, gusts easing a bit. Showers: Cloud band pushes in overnight — first spits possible pre-dawn.

🛌 Health & Lifestyle Outlook
Sleep comfort: Muggy meh with high cloud, doona ditched, fan fav.
Work/sports prep: Sunday ain’t a picnic — have wet-weather gear handy.

☀️ Tomorrow:
* Morning (6–10am): Cloud thickening, first light showers possible. Still mild, temps rising to 20+.
* Midday–early arvo (11am–2pm): Showers becoming more frequent, storm potential building as trough edges in. S_SE'erly change should push across the coast.
* Arvo (2–5pm): Cold change barrels through the rest of the Basin. Peak chance for showers + storms, some could go noisy with gusts & brief heavy falls.
* Evening (post-6pm): Cooler SW flow takes over, showers ease.
* Max temps: huge variance due to timing: possible 24ºC thru 30ºC (warmer in the west due to later arrival of the change)
* Rain: 1–15 mm, locally heavier if storms pop. Storms possibly severe with gusty winds & hail *if* they get motivated

🔮 Sneak Peek (next 6 days)
* Mon: Cooler, cloudy, showers linger, 20–21°C.
* Tue: Clearing, 25–26°C.
* Wed: Sunny, 25°C.
* Thu: Fine, 25°C.
* Fri: Cooler blip, 20°C.

Sydney weather: less predictable than Trump with a microphone. Stay tuned — tomorrow could get noisy.

Check these out - thanks to our unofficial 'Mayor of Camden' Mr Sharpe aka & Mr

🌤️ Fallstreak Hole 101 (a.k.a. UFO starter kit 👽):
* They form in altocumulus or cirrocumulus cloud layers when part of the cloud suddenly decides to nope out.
* Usually triggered by a passing aircraft — its wing tips or jet exhaust cause tiny supercooled water droplets in the cloud to freeze instantly into ice crystals.
* When that freezing cascade kicks off, the surrounding droplets evaporate, leaving behind a circular or elliptical “hole” with streamers of ice crystals falling beneath (the “fallstreak”).
* They can look otherworldly — like sky donuts, cosmic portals, or the atmosphere’s way of trolling conspiracy theorists.
* Not caused by geoengineering, doppler radar, ships or chemtrails. 🙄

Why you spotted them today:
We had the perfect cocktail: a layer of mid-level cloud with supercooled droplets + passing planes = instant hole-punch. The high cloud deck over Sydney/NSW was ripe for it, so several opened up across the basin.

Fun fact:
Pilots don’t even know they’re making them — it’s literally accidental sky-graffiti.

*SOUTH POLE POLAR VORTEX UPDATE - WARMER & DRIER FOR MOST OF OCT, STORMY WET END & FOR NOV*

The stratosphere is cooking up a proper Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW). The polar vortex is weakening fast, and the “shockwaves” will reach the surface by mid–late October. That means:
• Next week: cooler & wetter in Sydney + SE Aus, storms along the east.
• Mid Oct: Negative SAM kicks in ➝ more troughs, east coast lows possible.
• Late Oct into Nov: Pattern turns stormier/wetter, with higher risk of coastal systems + storm outbreaks.

Think of it as the stratosphere “shaking the snow globe” — and by the time it settles, Sydney’s end of spring will be cooler and stormier than normal.
