I had an interesting experience with my nephew. At his age, he can’t get enough of 🦖dinosaurs. Off to the toy store🏬 we went, he was so excited.

When we arrived in the toy store, he took his time and enjoyed checking out each and every toy. As I was looking around, here’s what I noticed.

There aren’t as many kids in the store compared to before. So I engaged in a conversation with one of the staff and asked them how’s business going.

The staff member shared with me that business hasn’t been that good as to what it used to be because of online and mobile games.

Kids have been spending more time using their gadgets compared to playing with actual toys. And I just found out that kids are asking for in-game currencies so they can spend that “money” for their avatar accessories.

So I began to think of small business owners who are affected by the digital age. If you can’t keep up with technology, you’ll most likely go obsolete. And that means, you’ll shut down your business.

In order to prevent that from happening, what are you doing to keep up with the trend of technology?

Starting a is a challenging .
Some endeavours will fail and others will falter, but many
who start businesses will question why they ever did it.

Let me tell you that these situations are not limited to the beginnings of a business; they can pop up at any time.

Experience doesn’t always get you an automatic get out of jail free card. It can get you a thick skin and some history.

“Never let a bad start rob you of the air your idea needs to breathe."

That mediocre idea that may never get off the ground could very well be the trigger to something more, something better.

The Business Universe works in mysterious ways, none of which I have even been able to get a handle on.

Your in what you do and what you want is sometimes all you will have to lean on.

Stay and .

In one of our meetings, my team and I talked about how hard it was to live with our now that we’ve decided to move back home.

Mind you, it was a breath of fresh air knowing I’m not the only one who shares this kind of sentiment.

I won’t deny that there are times when I wonder if I made the right choice.

My managed to raise a family, stay married for almost 50 years, run businesses, work 7 days for many years, never resorted to fast food for a meal, never turned me into her house keeper, always had her hair done and somehow still manages to be tougher than all of us –

BTW, she is only 5ft.

Can you see where I’m going?

I am driven in ; it’s my way of doing things. I intensely and my guilt comes from feelings of annoyance when others interrupt that – namely my mother, from what I see as trivial needs.

I hate it when she calls me about her oven or washing machine, or complains about dad. I hate me more when I feel this way, especially when I know that if the tables were turned she wouldn’t be like that.

I’m not a good daughter, at least not consistently, and I find that disappointing since my mother is really someone who would understand everything I face. I’m fascinated and heartbroken at the same time, this push pull of mothers & daughters.

As a she would understand the challenges of gender and as a business owner she gets the stress and risk.

I’m going to call her right now and tell her how much I adore her, and thank her for putting up with me for all these years!

I’m not perfect, but who is?

Do you have a push pull relationship with your mother or daughter?

Quiet Quitting - it's the new buzzword.
🤫
🤫
🤫
Quiet quitting is a rejection of the idea that work has to take over your life and that employees should go above and beyond what their job descriptions entail.

While some forms of quiet quitting are obvious, such as turning down projects based on interest, refusing to answer work messages outside of working hours, or simply feeling less invested in the role, there are more subtle ways of doing it too.

While long-term employees may be “quietly quitting” their jobs, employers are concerned about the long-term effects.

Dissatisfied workers don't just hurt themselves—they also hurt their co-workers, who have to pick up the slack.

Dissatisfied workers can harm their companies in other ways, too: if employees feel like their colleagues aren't committed to doing quality work, they may decide to leave the company.

When “quiet quitters” step back from work because they feel overworked and exhausted, company executives and workplace experts argue that although it might feel good in the short-term, it could harm your career—and your company—in the long run.

What other long-term effects do you think quiet quitting will have?

Customer Service seems to also be cancelled?? Yes?

How long can commuters keep paying for this fabulous customer service?
How long will employers put up with staff being late again?
Staff working from home last minute
Staff leaving early to catch the train
Roads are jam packed with more cars as people drive instead of taking our reliable public transport

Who will be the winner at the end of this chess game?

Because I surely don’t know anymore. They say this might go on for another 6 months!!! Yes folks 6 months.

But at whose expense?

When I was a café owner, I was approached all the time to give free vouchers and donate to charity all the time! 💲💲💲

One afternoon, a group of people came to me and asked if I would sell them some sausages for a sausage sizzle to raise money for charity 🤔🤔

I was skeptical as to why they came to me, a cafe owner and not a butcher, and how they were going to make a profit for charity?

I’m a business owner, it's normal for me to think like this. They were having the BBQ in the CBD and there were no butchers, none that they knew who would deliver. Ah, that only made me ask more questions.

They had to buy all their ingredients, they couldn’t charge a lot for the sizzle and they had nowhere to store the food. I couldn’t see a profit, but I could see a loss. I wanted to help but I was worried they would think I wanted to take over.

So I decided to go for it and help. I just had to do it.

I organised my butcher to donate the sausages, my baker to donate the rolls, my small goods supplier to hand over the spreads etc and the markets to provide onions.

It didn’t cost them anything except their time to promote and cook. It actually didn’t cost me either. I didn’t spend a cent with the exception that I insisted we all went there for lunch!

This is just a small example of how we can help in ways that we take for granted.

We consider networking a legitimate form of growing our businesses, but do we realise that our networks could also offer connections that would mean a lot to others?

None of my suppliers were really out of pocket much at all, yet all of them together made an enormous difference.

I challenge you all to consider ways that we can join together to make a difference, no matter how small.

For some it’s just a couple of bottles of tomato sauce, for others it’s about their very life.

Qantas doing customer service badly! Is $50 off your next flight an apology or a slap in the face?✈️✈️✈️

You came to the airport early and happily lined up to check-in to your flight. And then the airline ground staff tells you, “Your flight has been delayed or worse cancelled.”

It’s one horror story after another for so many travellers. More so for a who’s flying for an important meeting or a conference they are presenting at!

It’s frustrating!

Over the past 6 months, it has been happening to Qantas – flights delayed, flights cancelled, misplaced bags.

Now, Qantas thinks they are making amends…. $50 discount on your next flight.

Did Qantas listen to their customers and act sufficiently?
