Making resin in the forest. Resin is used to make many things like: boats, resin art, resin jewelry, traditional torches, coatings & manufacturing. Indigenous People light a fire in a tree hole and stop the fire with green leaves to collect resin from the tree. It may look easy but it is difficult & dangerous!

Traditional wild honey hunting in the forest. To access the beehive without being stung, hunters use smoke to calm the bees.

On the tree branch you see a natural honeycomb created by honeybees.

This ancient practice of honey hunting is risky as it involves climbing tall trees without protective gear.

Stranded in a Cambodian forest, our motorcycle submerged in mud, this is not a “motorcycle accident” for us - just ‘another day’ riding to work 😊

Motorcycle accidents & close calls are part of daily life in the forest - we just stop, laugh, enjoy being together & appreciate the beauty of raw nature.

Cambodia & Japan meet for cultural exchange in Hokkaido. Bunong & Jarai Indigenous Peoples of Cambodia visited the Ainu Indigenous Peoples of Japan for a fascinating exchange of ancient cultures. We all had the privilege of sharing our unique traditions including: indigenous traditional clothing, musical instruments, houses, languages and foods.

Beautiful open fire cooking using a bamboo tube in the forest - an ancient culinary tradition. “Bamboo cooking” (or “wild cooking”) is commonly used in forest life by indigenous cultures all around the world.

Cooking in the wild with an open fire while surrounded by awe-inspiring nature is more than ‘a meal’.

Our entire way of life - foraging, how we prepare food, being together outdoors - all brings us closer to nature, maintains our spiritual connection to nature, and ourselves.
