Waterfall Series | Chapter 6: Belmore Falls – The Twin Drop of Morton National Park
📍 Belmore Falls, Morton National Park NSW, Australia

Belmore Falls drops in two strong stages over the sandstone cliffs of the Kangaroo Valley escarpment. From both Belmore and Hindmarsh lookouts, the valley opens wide with clouds, rolling hills and shifting light moving through the forest.

One of the most dramatic waterfalls in the Southern Highlands, full of power, height and quiet beauty.

Lookout Series | Chapter 6: Hindmarsh Lookout – Valley of Quiet Clouds
📍 Morton National Park, NSW, Australia

Hindmarsh Lookout opens onto Kangaroo Valley, where rolling hills and deep forest are often wrapped in drifting clouds. They move slowly across the ridges, softening the landscape and giving the whole valley a calm, unreal glow.

A short walk from the Belmore Falls track leads you to this platform above farmland, forest and cliffs. On days when the clouds settle low, the view feels peaceful and almost otherworldly.

Drive into Killalea Regional Park, park at the main car park and follow the short track that leads directly to the sand.

Locals whisper about Dark Corner, the shaded tip of Patonga Beach where the rocks twist toward a small hidden sandy pocket. When the tide retreats, footsteps echo across the stones — soft, slow, and never quite matching your own. 👣

Some say a fisherman once vanished here on a moonless night, his lantern light swallowed by the waves. Yet on still evenings, a faint glow flickers between the rocks — drifting closer, then disappearing just before you reach the sand. 🕯️

Named in 1850 after NSW governor Sir Charles FitzRoy, this waterfall plunges 80 metres into the rugged Yarrunga Valley — a landscape shaped over millions of years by water and wind. 🌧️🌿
