Congratulations to 14-year-old Shrey Parikh of California, who beat 246 others to win this year’s Scripps Spelling Bee Competition worth USD 52,500.

He also set a record for correctly spelling 32 words in just 90 seconds - MOST of which, we admit, we have never ever heard!

The rest of the world is finally discovering what Indian parents have suspected all along: spelling may well be India’s unofficial national pastime.

What does it mean to inherit stories across continents and generations?

In “Selected Works”, First Nations artist Hayley Millar Baker reflects on her Anglo-Indian and Indigenous heritage to explore the connections between culture, cuisine, memories, and colonialism.

At the heart of the collection on exhibit at the Wyndham Art Gallery in Melbourne are stories passed down by her grandfather, who migrated from India to Australia in the 1950s.

She hopes that people leave the exhibition thinking not only about her family's history, but also about their own.
