Pakistan star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is facing potential disciplinary action following recent inappropriate behavior that has upset coaches and board officials.
The incident in question occurred during a practice session at Headingley on the recent England tour, where Afridi’s conduct with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf was inappropriate.
Sources reveal that Afridi’s misconduct was particularly evident when batting coach Mohammad Yousuf criticized him for bowling too many no-balls.
Afridi retorted back while saying, “Let me practice for now, and don’t talk in the middle.” This remark triggered a heated confrontation between the two individuals.
According to reports, the situation escalated to the point where the team management had to intervene. Afridi was subsequently reprimanded for his behavior and made to apologize to Yousuf in front of the entire team. Although the immediate matter was resolved with an apology, the incident has sparked a broader inquiry.
Sources indicate that an investigation is now underway to understand why no immediate disciplinary action was taken against Afridi.
This probe also examines the formation of player lobbies within the team, which are believed to be contributing to a negative atmosphere. Maintaining discipline within the team is the responsibility of the managers, and their handling of the situation is under scrutiny.
Pakistan team‘s internal discord and lack of discipline among players have become significant concerns for team management. PCB plans to provide more opportunities to domestic performers in the home series against Bangladesh.
