BELPHEGOR unleash ferocious new single ‘Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus’; band sign with Reigning Phoenix Music

The unrelenting force of diabolical black death metal, BELPHEGOR, return with a blazing new single: ‘Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus.’ Forged in chaos and crowned in blasphemy, the track marks a savage invocation of what is yet to come.

This release marks BELPHEGOR’s first under their freshly inked deal with Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM), setting the stage for a powerful alliance between one of extreme metal’s most revered entities and one of the scene’s most ambitious new labels.
Helmuth, the band’s co-founder and guiding force, shares: “It’s great to be working with Gerardo Martinez once again. He believed in BELPHEGOR early on and was the one who brought us to North America in 2006. I look forward to a powerful new chapter with RPM.”

Gerardo Martinez, co-founder of RPM, echoes the sentiment: “Helmuth, BELPHEGOR and I go back to 2006 and I'm extremely thrilled to be able to continue working with one of the best proponents of black death metal art. Welcome to RPM! Here’s to many more years of great music!”

On ‘Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus,’ Helmuth describes: “A symbiosis of diabolical black death metal. A glorification of the Devil. A hypnotic anthem of passion, fire and iron discipline. It stands for the absolute freedom to walk your own path, to reign within your own realm.”

More ominous creations are on the horizon, with this single serving as a harbinger of the full-length devastation yet to be revealed.

About BELPHEGOR
Since their formation in 1993 in Austria, BELPHEGOR have stood as one of the most brutal and transgressive forces in black death metal. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner, the band has spent over three decades refining a sound forged in fire and sacrilege, merging the violent precision of death metal with the ritualistic darkness of black metal.

Their musick is an invocation of infernal power, a sound wall of relentless blasphemy.

From the raw intensity of early releases like The Last Supper [1995], Blutsabbath [1997], and Necrodaemon Terrorsathan [2000], to the increasingly sophisticated compositions found on albums such as Lucifer Incestus, Bo***ge Goat Zombie, Pestapokalypse VI, and Totenritual, BELPHEGOR have continually pushed the boundaries of extreme musick. Each release marks a further descent into forbidden territory.

The band’s thematic focus with ritual magick, religious inversion, and arcane symbolism is matched by their technical mastery, multilingual lyrics, and sonic experimentation.

With their twelfth studio album The Devils [2022], BELPHEGOR delivered one of their most punishing and ambitious records to date.

Recorded at Fascination Street Studios with producer Jens Bogren, the album features nine meticulously crafted compositions that shift seamlessly between feral aggression and solemn majesty.

Tracks such as ‘Glorifizierung des Teufels’ and ‘Virtus Asinaria - Prayer’ incorporate choral passages and ritualistic structure, while ‘Damnation - Höllensturz’ unfolds with a dynamic complexity that further amplifies the band’s compositional vision.

Lyrically, the album weaves together German, Latin and English to cast incantations of death, desecration, and rebellion against sacred order. Accompanied by visionary artwork from Seth Siro Anton, “The Devils” stands as a high point in BELPHEGOR’s canon and underscores their continued relevance in the global extreme metal landscape.

Following the success of “The Devils,” BELPHEGOR were honoured with the 2023 Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the ‘Hard & Heavy’ category, a rare moment of formal recognition in Austria for a band that has long walked a path far removed from mainstream acceptance. This accolade acknowledges their artistic legacy and highlights the contrast between their recognition and the transgressive nature of their craft.

Renowned for their intense live rituals, BELPHEGOR have toured relentlessly across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and beyond. They have appeared at Wacken Open Air, Knotfest, Bloodstock Open Air, Hellfest, Tons Of Rock, Sweden Rock Festival and numerous other prestigious metal festivals. Their stage presence is more than a performance, it is a ceremony of magick and infernal theatre, where sound, smoke, blood, and fire converge in a communion with darkness.

Now, as the band approach their thirteenth studio album, a deeper and more arcane force begins to stir. The number thirteen bears ancient meaning: endings, thresholds, and the passage into the unknown. Rooted in primordial doctrine, the thirteenth seal is said to bind the final veil between worlds, the last barrier between order and chaos.

With this upcoming release, BELPHEGOR prepare to break that seal, not to follow, but to lead. To summon what lies beyond even their own previous creations: something more primal, more ritualistic, more devastating.

Early glimpses of new material point to a continuation of the dark artistic path begun with “The Devils,” now delving even deeper. The upcoming album takes shape as a focused ritual: precise, uncompromising, and rooted in the band’s unmistakable vision, the glorification of the Devil.

Prepare. The next chapter is imminent.

CONJURER Return With Third Album UNSELF + Watch The Video For First Single 'Hang Them In Your Head'

British metal heavyweights CONJURER return with news of their mighty third album, Unself, which will be released 24th October via Nuclear Blast Records.

To commemorate the moment, the band have also unveiled the first single from the release, 'Hang Them In Your Head'.

And stream 'Hang Them In Your Head' here: https://conjurer.bfan.link/htiyh

CONJURER comment: "Unself is a record that we have put everything of ourselves into, in a way that we didn’t think possible for this band. Hang Them… is only the beginning. Thank you all for your patience, we are happy to report that it will be worth the wait."

CONJURER have evolved radically since the release of their debut album (Mire, 2018), and their second release (Páthos, 2022) saw them lauded among the most exciting British metal bands. Whilst award nominations and accolades accumulated, the four-piece band retained their very simple mission: to make heavy music and have fun whilst doing so. Preferring to use their spotlight to showcase technicality and musicality rather than centring politics or opinions, CONJURER lived in the moment and embraced everything that came their way.

Within the tumult of forging a renewed identity as a band, on Unself there is a more intense, more personal voyage of discovery unfurling for vocalist/guitarist Dani Nightingale. Diagnosed with autism at age 31, their long-held view of self, and perception of their place in the world began to unravel. Unself documents much of the piecing back together around the diagnosis, alongside the realisation they were non-binary.

These vignettes of processing and self-actualisation take place against the backdrop of a society careening towards glassy-eyed capitalist dystopia; finding firm footing eludes many of us - and CONJURER delve headfirst into exploring these suffocating new societal parameters.

Within Unself's nine tracks, CONJURER deliver the writhing post-metal sound they’ve become known for, but have loosened their grip on the desire to fill every moment with sonic obliteration. Instead, they have leaned into utilising space, gifting listeners a little breathing room which serves to make the heavy elements feel all the more intense.

A more direct, organic approach to songwriting was facilitated by the ever-strengthening bonds within the band, and the supportive environment created by producer Joe Clayton. Allowing themselves more time than with any previous recording experience, they committed to preproduction sessions, followed by an elongated recording period in order to do justice to the material they had crafted. Stripping back the excesses of previous outings to reveal their solid songwriting chops allowed for more clarity and more dynamics to shine through. To their ears, the mood, the core of the lyrical content and the music are more aligned than ever before.

This record is the sound of four individuals living with more purpose and as a consequence creating with more purpose. Unself sees them reaching out to offer community, catharsis and connection. CONJURER remain true to their original mission - they’re still having fun, playing interesting heavy music - but now that music is imbued with the power that comes from opening themselves up to others, at first within the band, and now beyond.

Brady Deeprose | guitars, vocals
Dani Nightingale | guitars, vocals
Conor Marshall | bass

RAVEN BLACK Unleashes Twin Nightmares with “CRY OF THE RAVEN” and “DEAD” – Both Singles & Videos Out Now!

From the Upcoming Album Black Sonata , Releasing September 13, 2025

A Dark Carnival of Power, Pain, and Purge Returns

The twisted ringmasters of theatrical metal, RAVEN BLACK , have returned with not one, but two diabolical new singles — “CRY OF THE RAVEN” and “DEAD” — both out now on all streaming platforms alongside their official music videos. This dual drop offers fans an unflinching plunge into the band’s nightmarish world, setting the stage for their most unhinged and ambitious album yet, Black Sonata , arriving Friday, September 13, 2025.

Produced by legendary metal alchemist Ulrich Wild ( Static-X, White Zombie, Deftones ), these tracks embody the raw duality of Raven Black’s sound.

Both songs are twisted tales ripped from Raven’s own mythos — part gothic fairytale, part psychological horror — and together they pull listeners deeper into the Black Sonata universe.

Dead:

“Every song is a chapter in our story. ‘Cry of the Raven’ is the call — the awakening of the darkness within. ‘Dead’ is the purge — the breaking point where there’s nothing left to lose,” says Raven.

MEET RAVEN BLACK
RAVEN BLACK are a theatrical metal act originally from Los Angeles. Their unique brand of metal — influenced by gothic, classical, and heavy metal — is the soundtrack to vocalist Raven’s duality , as she shares her journey of being a hybrid of both dark and light. Drawing from a lifetime of diverse influences — music, art, film, cultural heritage, and personal experience — every song is crafted as an immersive journey, designed to leave listeners transformed.

Some tracks are melodic, some are menacing, some are pure chaos — but all tell a story. At the core lies their comic book-inspired origin: a girl whose innocence was stolen, cursed by predators, and haunted by her inner demons. She discovers she is half-human, half-doll — the doll within being the embodiment of darkness. Embracing this shadow self, she travels with her demons, who protect her from those seeking to steal her inner power. She is the key.

“death metal that sounds like it’ll give you back sweat” – Revolver

Following their recent signing with Nuclear Blast Records, Texas death horde TRIBAL GAZE has announced their 2nd full-length album, Inveighing Brilliance, will be released on October 17th. Injecting a heavy dose of scorching old school death metal straight into the veins of the modern metal scene, TRIBAL GAZE hold nothing back on their massively anticipated followup to 2022’s highly praised The Nine Choirs.

Today, the band has unleashed their furious first single, ‘Beyond Recognition,’ with an intense video directed by David Brodsky (CATTLE DECAPITATION, CANNIBAL CO**SE).

Commenting on the impending record and new single, guitarist Quintin Stauts says:

“I think this album, like our others, is us trying to create memorable parts in songs. Parts that make you have to rewind and hear it again. The aim is always to make songs that we love listening to. We’re just trying to add something of value to the death metal world. Our single Beyond Recognition is a good representation of where we’re at mentally. Pi**ed during the fast parts, pi**ed during the slow parts.”

About TRIBAL GAZE:
Arising from the scorched earth of Texas, Tribal Gaze return with “Inveighing Brilliance”, a death metal monolith shaped by ancient violence and unforgiving truth. Recently signed to Nuclear Blast Records, the band conjures visions of primal wrath and nihilistic clarity—a sound rooted in the rawness of old-school death metal but sharpened with modern intent. From their name, inspired by unseen forces watching from deep forests, to the crushing weight of their riffs, Tribal Gaze channels something ancient, unknown, and violently present.

“Inveighing Brilliance” is a meditation on the illusion of beauty in nature and existence, and how it pertains to both Mother Nature, and our wretched, human society. Even in moments of light, brutality lurks—eggs are stolen from nests, flesh is torn for survival. This album dissects this duality, revealing the suffering embedded in every living moment. With digital artwork by Dom Pabon (Final Resting Place) that evokes sci-fi decay and meditations of ancient ruin, the album looks and sounds like a lost realm where reality fractures under the pressure of its own contradictions.

Tracks like “Beyond Recognition” and “To the Spoils of Faith” expand on these apocalyptic themes. The former imagines an outside force annihilating humanity in judgment of its arrogance, built on some of the band’s most punishing riffs to date—swinging between chaos, groove, and sheer obliteration. The latter churns with mechanized fury and contempt for blind belief, echoing Meshuggah-like timing with lyrics that drag faith to its own ironic hell. Across the record, Tribal Gaze capture the violence of thought and sound in equal measure—uncompromising and vividly self-aware.

Their ascent to Nuclear Blast was anything but formulaic. After leveling stages on tour with Frozen Soul, the band caught the attention of legendary A&R Monte Conner, who waited outside a venue in New York just to share his admiration. That moment solidified a new chapter for Tribal Gaze—a label that values creative freedom and pushes bands to expand without dilution. With “Inveighing Brilliance”, they’ve done just that: stripped away illusion, stared into the abyss, and made it echo.

Bask’s “The Traveler” Blazes Ahead of The Turning

For as long as they've been together, BASK have called Asheville, North Carolina home. But ever since they came rumbling down from the Land of the Sky, it was clear that these Southern trailblazers were cut from a different neck of the woods. On their upcoming fourth album, the band take Heavy Americana to a whole new dimension. The latest single from The Turning revolves around "The Traveler", a mysteriously ageless gunslinger who refuses to go down amidst a mind-melting blaze of glory.

"This song introduces one of the main characters behind our new album", Bask says. "You're sure to be banging your head, just in 9/4".

Watch the surreal video for "The Traveler" on the Season of Mist YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/iDyIxF7QqMg

The Turning comes out next Friday, August 22, 2025 on Season of Mist.

Pre-order & Pre-save: https://orcd.co/basktheturning

Bask continue to grow by literal leaps and conceptual bounds. "The Traveler" takes off like an outlaw on the run with riffs that kick back harder than a double-barreled shotgun -- only for the snare to come marching in like a prisoner being led to the gallows. "There's nothing wrong with playing in 4/4", drummer Scott Middleton admits, "but if you're not exploring, then you're missing out on a world of opportunity".

Whereas Bask's previous treks were inspired by tall tales, The Turningspools forth from the most fantastical corners of their imagination. "When we started writing this album, the songs were twangy, but also spacier and more psychedelic than anything we've done before", says vocalist and guitarist Zeb Wright, who is also the band's lyrical guide. "And so I asked myself, 'What does this feel like? What do all these things come together and make?". Following a retreat to Echo Mountain Recording with producer Kenny Harrington, they returned with the answer: a 40-odd minute, sci-fi opus that stretches not just across dimensions but generations in man's never-ending quest for immortality.

In keeping in line with its far-out concept, The Turning truly straddles the line between cosmic and country. Just as the video for "The Traveler" puts a surreal twist on the classic talk show format, the album's latest single also introduces a colorful wrinkle in the form of Bask's newest member Jed Willis. "These guys have become friends and brothers to me over the past decade or so", Willis says. His pedal steel glows with all the natural beauty of a Harvest Moon above the song's down-home melodies, though its dimension-hopping desperado needs help getting out of Dodge in order to avoid another run-in with the long, cold hand of fate.

"Don't be frightened of me". Wright belts with clean and clear conviction, though an organ-provoked premonition reveals that the intentions of "The Traveler" aren't so honorable. The doomy breakdown doesn't the pit but an all-consuming black hole.

“We’ve been through so much together", bassist Jesse Van Note reflects. "We were robbed in Sweden. A tire literally fell off our van while we were driving. During COVID, we didn’t get together as much. We’re also older now and there are challenges and responsibilities that come with that. I have two kids. Some of us have bought houses. We’ve all been through marriages and different relationships. For things to snowball on top of the band one after another, it kind of had us feeling like maybe this was the end of our era”.

While its story line is admittedly "out there"', The Turning does hit close to home. The album's dwellings on family, aging, death and rebirth were cast in a deeper, darker light when Bask returned for mixing and mastering after Hurricane Helene reached Asheville. "The Traveler" ends with its boots one step closer to the grave. But the band still ascend amongst the stars with a shredding solo that defies the laws of physics.

"Seeing this album finally come to light is therapeutic for us", guitarist Ray Worth says. "The Turning is Bask at its finest. It's our most cohesive and heartfelt effort, an ode to our mountain home in the sky".

The video for "The Traveler" was directed, filmed and edited by Eric Bader. It was produced and designed by Caroline Bader.

More praise for Bask:
"I've heard the components of Bask's music before: Baroness, U.S. Christmas, Bruce Springsteen, Crazy Horse, Across Tundras and so forth. But I've never heard them together as one unit. If someone were to ask me if it were possible to be heavy without being brutal, I'd refer them to Bask" - Invisible Oranges

"Such a knack for expressive music is Bask's bread and butter" - Angry Metal Guy

"This is the kind of band you want to see grow. Join the party now" - Heavy Blog is Heavy

"The entire thing rocks your socks off with gripping guitar riffing" - Metal Bite

"... a remarkable demonstration of melodic genius created by a shrewd horde of big-footed giants...behold and bear witness to legends among villagers!" - Outlaws of the Sun

"...undeniably both infection and innovative" - Metal Storm

Thrash Metal Titans BLOODRIDE Unleash “King of Pain” Lyric Video

Finnish thrash metal juggernauts BLOODRIDE return with the lyric video for "King of Pain", the latest offering from their new album, Deafening — out now worldwide through Wormholedeath.

“King of Pain” is a vicious psychological purge — a relentless dive into numbness, rage, and the unbearable weight of existence. With razor-edged riffs and raw, unfiltered lyrics, the track explores a protagonist trapped in a cycle of self-loathing and emotional torment, ruled by a need to feel something — even if it’s pain. It’s not just a song; it’s a scream from the void, a twisted anthem for those who’ve ever stared into the abyss and dared it to stare back.

DESPISED ICON Reveal New Album SHADOW WORK + Release Music Video For New Single 'Over My Dead Body' Feat. Matt Honeycutt Of KUBLAI KHAN TX

Canadian deathcore pioneers DESPISED ICON return with their seventh full-length album, Shadow Work, which will be released on October 31, 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. Their first new music in six years, the album stands as the band's most fine-tuned and dynamic effort to date, balancing relentless speed, crushing grooves, and morbid melodies, while remaining true to their signature blend of extreme death metal and hardcore grit.

Today, DESPISED ICON release their ferocious new anthem entitled, 'Over My Dead Body' featuring Matt Honeycutt of KUBLAI KHAN TX. The single features eerie atmospherics and a crushing breakdown that confronts fear and doubt with iron resolve—a battle cry of self-belief, pain, and purpose. Watch the music video directed by Didier Charette, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ysb-nUCdsBE

DESPISED ICON's Alex Erian comments, "Even though our first jam dates back to the fall of 2000, it wasn’t until 2002 that we started playing shows and putting out music. From day one, Despised Icon has always stuck to a 'if it’s not ready, it’s not ready' mindset with everything we create. Fast forward almost six years since our last album Purgatory, and not much has changed. We’ve taken our time once again, and now we’re finally ready to turn the page and release what we feel is our most fine-tuned and dynamic record to date—staying grounded in the sound and spirit we helped define. We can’t wait to share new music with you all very soon."

Nuclear Blast American Label Manager & A&R Tommy Jones comments, “The wait was well worth it! This is a fantastic album and I cannot wait for the world to hear it in its entirety. Great things come out of the shadows.”
