Salt of the Earth Productions

Salt of the Earth Productions Salt of the Earth Productions was established in 2002. Somehow images and sounds never die.

For the last 20+ years, our work has been planting creative seeds, exploring and highlighting multicultural tales, crafted and brought to the screen by culturally diverse cast and crew members. Our film ideas and eventual productions have come from the vibrant experiences and talents of creatives from different cultural backgrounds working in journalism, Comms and PR, events, the arts, literary fi

ction, theatre and screen writing. They live and survive every past and present challenge in the face of bringing new creations to fruition. Our list of films: shorts, documentary, can go a long way in leaving its filmmaking mark on fresh storytelling approaches. They have offered new narrative possibilities, aesthetics, and thematic explorations that enrich the cinematic landscape and challenge mainstream conventions. Here we are now, relaunching the work with the same “salt” that nurtured our soil in past years, to open the door wide for a new breath of film productions. We are passionate filmmakers showing the complexity and richness of different cultures in Australia - the most ethnically diverse country on the planet. We are home to the world’s oldest, surviving culture and 300 separately identified languages are spoken in Australian homes every day. From this wonderfully rich cultural tapestry there is an endless well of fascinating stories to draw upon, in order to entertain, advocate for social change and to ignite critical thinking.

Throwing back to Day 3 on the set of Unspoken — the grand dinner party scene that pulsed with tension and elegance.

One sixteen-second unbroken dolly shot revealed 1950s Fiji — from extraordinary wardrobe and make-up artistry to period-accurate prop and lighting design — all in perfect harmony with the cast and crew to bring Writer/Director Iva Tora’s vision to life.

It was an evening of teamwork, trust, and the magic of filmmaking.

The best is still to come. Stay tuned.

Rain or shine, the story must go on. Day 4 of production for the Unspoken pilot. Our cast and crew powered through the downpour — ponchos, umbrellas, and all — with heart, grit, and a whole lot of teamwork.
