Feeling very grateful after receiving some amazing feedback on my Express Entertainment page, so I thought I’d share it here on my personal page as well.

In my opinion, DJs and musicians don’t always get the credit they deserve. In the moment, it can sometimes feel like you’re just there doing the job, and then during bump-out you get the thank yous and appreciation… but it’s often forgotten pretty quickly after that.

That said, in my 40 years as a DJ, there have been some moments that truly stay with you. One very special one was being mentioned at a funeral for the late Edgardo De Martino in October 2025 — a beautiful and respectful family. I had the honour of DJing Edgardo’s 90th birthday in Sylvania, and what a night it was. We had an incredible time and partied on until around 3am.

So the message here is simple: I’m genuinely grateful for the positive feedback and kind words when they come. Of course, like any job, there’s also a downside. Just last week I was called a “gronk” by a punter because I didn’t play ethnic music and the music was supposedly too loud — even though it’s a public venue where I’m not permitted to play ethnic music.

As they say, when one door closes, many more open. You really do have to create your own luck be proactive rather than reactive and, of course, hard work goes a long way.

After 23 years of commitment to Vagabond Cruises I’ve officially jumped ship to Karisma Cruises and Opal Charters. Yes, it felt strange being on a different vessel today, but like everything in life, nothing is permanent.

I want to thank Vagabond Cruises for their support over the years, and a special shout-out to Pierre, who quite literally saved my life years ago when I slipped and went overboard at the wharf.

Last Friday, I celebrated 40 years of my professional DJ career, and there will be a special gig next year to mark this milestone. And for the record, I’m not retiring yet! But I will definitely be slowing down in 2026.
