Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
National Chewing Gum Day! Did you ever have to get rid of a mouth full of gum and stick it somewhere to be found by an unexpecting person? Back of a headboard maybe or under a chair or table? Nasty!
It's Mulled Cider Day, what's the difference or is there any in mulled and just cider? Either way, I think I'll pass on the cider.
Do you use olive oil? It's Extra Virgin Olive Oil Day. Do you know the difference in extra virgin and first press and first cold press olive oil, bet it's the price!
Have you ever seen a ghost? No, really, have you? National Ghost Hunting Day. I have experienced seeing a ghost, but I sure wouldn't go hunting for one. This national day however is just in time for spooky Halloween. I'll have to share a couple, well several, stories of ghost sometime.
Enjoy the cool morning everyone it is finally beginning to feel like fall. As always, Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Ready for your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
I've has mine, have you had yours? National Coffee Day! Different companies are offering free coffee, coffee tastings, or free with purchase coffee. We got hooked of Starbucks traveling back and forth moving from Houston to Lancaster. The Starbucks in Huntsville knew what I wanted when I got to the counter! Here are some things to go with our coffee, National Mocha Day and better yet, National Biscotti Day!
I think everyone deserves a hooray today because it is National Brave Day. Think about it, a one point in your life didn't you step out in faith or say something out of your norm? I know I have, well, you are brave! Sometimes I think I did things just to be defiant and prove I could! The little engine that could, yep!
Step out there, be brave! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and we are blessed to be given another day!
Have a Great one, Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
This is your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
Guess we all have been told this many times, there is no such thing as a stupid question, well it is National Ask a Stupid Question, so ask away! Was it Forest Gump that said, stupid is as stupid does? Oh dear, my thoughts are political this morning. What's the old saying," if the shoe fits wear it."
World Rabies Day, you don't hear about rabies much anymore. My husband had to have the shots (in the stomach) when he was young. His granddad's neighbor's dog bit him, granddad always treated him to an ice cream cone after each shot.
Stupid and rabies, oh, we need something sweet! Strawberry Cream Pie Day, that will do it!
What cartoon character said, "that's all folks"? Hint, he stuttered. Have a great day everyone, Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
Being lactose intolerant sadly I'm unable to enjoy one of today's national day, Chocolate Milk Day! So, enjoy a glass for me!
Shamefully this National Scarf Day reminds me of a lesson learned the hard way. I ordered an item on line, you guessed it, I got a scarf instead of the item ordered. I haven't even taken it our of the package and the company service was a joke! Did get a partial refund and they didn't want the scarf back, imagine that!
It is Ancestor Appreciation Day. It is a shame we don't get to sit down with our elders and get to know them as a person. Some of their life experiences that made they become the person they were. I hope my kids know me for the person I am and not just mother. (I think I've improved with age.)
Have a great day everyone, Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
Very young I learned about this character in history, wonder if kids still do, Johnny Appleseed Day. Did you learn about him roaming around planting apple seeds everywhere he went? Like I said, non-essential trivia.
Good foods to share today as it is Family Day, it is also Dumpling Day, Key Lime Pie Day, and Pancake Day. That covers breakfast, lunch and dessert.
We usually only think of Sunday as our Day of Praise and Worship. It is and should be every day! It is beautiful this morning and a great day to be on the green side of the grass! And yes, it is turning green again, thankful for the little rain we got yesterday! Have a great day everyone, Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Do you or have you read comic books? It's National Comic Book Day. Did you have a favorite? Some of the old ones are collector items now, like baseball cards!
Happy, A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Kids! I remember eating dinner with the kids but that doesn't happen very often now a days. However, it is also National Cooking Day and I do like to cook, there were less, if any, leftovers when we had dinner with the kids!
There are a lot of national days today and one that brings a blast from the past is Road Kill Day. I know it is to clean the streets but, I belonged to a group of young adults that once a year put on a gumbo dinner for the elderly. One of the guys, a truck driver, named his gumbo "road kill" We had fun with that one!
Have a great week everyone, happy Monday Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
Hope your team won yesterday, I couldn't watch as Baylor got stomped! Oh well.
How important do you think punctuation is? "Let's eat, Grandma" or "Let's eat Grandma" National Punctuation Day. It is easier to speak, your tone of voice can make a lot of difference and like mom always said not to put in writing what you would not want someone else to read. Just saying!
World Day of the Deaf. It is different when someone starts to lose their hearing (what you say?) than being born that way. Never to hear your loved one's voice or to hear a warning of imminent danger. As the caricature on the TV show Monk always said, " It is a blessing and a curse!"(at least at times).
On a sweet note, Happy Cherries Jubilee Day! It is really a dramatic dessert, perfect for a special occasion.
Have a Blessed Day everyone, let's make it our own forever national day every day! Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
Today autumn begins astronomically in the Northern Hemisphere, (and spring starts in the Southern) shorter days, longer nights and hopefully cooler, crisper weather.
Do you know sigh language? My youngest son took a course in sign language in college and got to use it in a McDonalds of all places. A woman and her children were trying to order, and he was able to sign with her to relay her order, cool right? International Day of Sign Language. It would be hard to be death, but I think being blind would be worse, don't you?
As far as food goes today it is National Pot Pie Day. I personally can't stand pot pie and you might know the youngest daughter served (homemade) pot pie one time we went to visit. Made my husband proud I (sort of) ate it. It is a texture thing for me, like dumplings, pass! And I'm sure that was too much information.
Enjoy the football games today and Happy Fall Y'all! HUGS!

Good morning, Somerville!

World Car Free Day. That would be bad, think about it. Most of us do not live near where we work, shop, or our doctors, our schools, well maybe the schools. We could walk or ride bikes I guess however, it is also Fall Prevention Awareness Day, that would me!
This is different, National Girls Night In Day, slumber party time! Perfect time for the next two, Ice Cream Cone Day and White Chocolate Day (gain five pounds too!) Depending on your girlfriends, it could make a very interesting entry in your Dear Diary Day!
Have you ever heard of Indians as either two feathers or a dot? I thought it was a clever way of identifying the two. This is the two feathers, National American Indian Day. (Perfect for the Somerville mascot.)
That about covers the national days except for World Rhino Day and the only thing that comes to mind is an experience my sweet cousin had as a child at the zoo, and I won't mention it here. (Love you!)
Rise and shine everyone, have a great Friday, love the one you're with! Hugs!

Good morning, Somerville!
Your daily dose of non-essential trivia!
This is good advice for everyone, National Get Ready Day. If, is a big word and we all should at least discuss the what if. If you were not with your child or spouse, you would know what the plan was if there were an emergency or a crisis situation. I know, God forbid!
Ok, now that I've got your tummy in a knot and maybe given you a few new white hairs, happy note, it is National Pecan Cookie Day. Wasn't going to leave you without something sweet.
I guess most people know someone with Dementia or Alzheimer's, it is sad for the person and a daily struggle for the care giver either case it is a lonely place to be so, on today, National Alzheimer's Day, say a prayer for both, thank you.
Happy Friday eve, love the one you love! Hugs!
