Did you know Komodo Dragons and Saltwater Crocodiles occasionally share the same habitat?! 🐊

The world’s largest reptile and the world’s largest land reptile have coexisted across the Lesser Sunda Islands for hundreds of thousands of years. 🤯

Today, an estimated 3,500 Komodo Dragons roam the islands, but Saltwater Crocodiles have never established a stable population here. The lack of extensive mangrove habitat makes the islands less suitable for them. 🐊

Searching for the Largest Crocodile on Earth… You Won't Believe This Encounter! 🐊😳

Saltwater crocodiles are the largest living reptiles on the planet, with enormous males capable of growing over 6 metres (20 feet) long. Found throughout northern Australia and Southeast Asia, these ancient predators can spend hours almost completely submerged, silently waiting for prey to come within striking distance.

They have one of the strongest bite forces ever measured in a living animal, and their ability to remain almost invisible in murky water makes encountering a large one an unforgettable experience.

While searching remote rivers for one of these giants, we came across something we definitely weren't expecting… 🐊

These Giant Crabs Can Crush Your Fingers! 🦀😳

Australian mud crabs are built like tanks. They can grow to enormous sizes and have incredibly powerful claws that they use to crush shells, catch prey and defend themselves from predators.

They spend much of their lives hidden inside muddy burrows in Australia's mangroves, making them surprisingly difficult to find. During low tide, we searched these muddy tunnels by hand, hoping to uncover one of these giant crabs.

But just how big can an Australian mud crab actually get? 🦀

I found the largest snake in Australia… the Scrub Python! 😳🐍

Also known as the Amethystine Python, this giant can grow to over 5 metres long, making it one of Australia’s most impressive snakes.

They’re powerful constrictors that use their incredible size and strength to ambush prey, including birds, mammals and even other reptiles. 🌿

How big do you think the largest scrub Python on earth is?! ⁉️

This Snake Kills 50 People Every Single Day?! 😳🐍

The Russell’s viper is one of the most dangerous snakes in Asia and is responsible for a huge number of serious snakebite cases. Found across parts of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, this highly venomous snake often lives close to farmland and human settlements, where encounters are much more common.

Its venom can cause severe pain, swelling, internal bleeding and dangerous complications, and without rapid medical treatment, a bite can be fatal. Despite its relatively slow appearance, the Russell’s viper can strike with incredible speed when threatened.

But could this one snake really be responsible for 50 human deaths every single day? 🐍

Australia’s largest bird of prey, the Wedge-tailed Eagle is an incredible scavenger as well as a skilled hunter.

With wingspans reaching more than 2 metres, these powerful eagles can soar for hours while searching huge areas for food. 🌏

Mud crabs have been an important traditional food for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples for thousands of years, with generations of knowledge passed down about finding and harvesting these incredible creatures.

Found throughout Australia’s tropical mangroves, mud crabs are perfectly adapted to life in the muddy shallows and estuaries.

An incredible animal and a species deeply connected to Australia’s Indigenous cultures and coastal traditions. 🌿🦀

20 years on… What an incredible life lived in nature. 🤎 Everyone, and I mean everyone, I’ve met while filming these documentaries was inspired to work with animals because of you.

The last video is the last time I ever saw Steve in person. I was only two years old, but my parents took this video of me watching his croc show in 2005. 🐊 How cool!

To the greatest to ever do it. We all miss you and wish you were still here, Steve.
