Dead Poet Society (DPS) played the Triffid last night, supported by Raging Hormones & Bad Nerves. Firstly, I want to thank Destroy All Lines for exposing DPS to an Australian crowd; they were truly one of the standouts for the lineup at Good Things 2025. However, their placement in the lineup at stage 5 meant some people had to make a tough decision. Those who decided not to miss out on their sideshow yesterday had a night to remember. Sometimes you are lucky enough to see an amazing band on their way up in a small and intimate venue, as we all were last night. I am sure it will be a story told for years to come, as we were there for DPS first Australian Tour. These seasoned performers brought it right from the first song and delivered till the very end.
Their energetic, eclectic performance was embraced by the audience, who were there to truly enjoy the night. DPS is an eclectic mix of blues, rhythmic guitar, driving bass, angelic vocals that have a decent amount of grit and traction, being supported by a jazz-based drummer that never lets the beat get boring.
The crowd was energetic and carried the chorus through many songs. Anyone who was not a DPS fan beforehand definitely left as one. To be able to experience a band of this calibre at such an intimate venue was truly something to be grateful for, and we just hope that DPS come and visit us again soon. If you havenβt checked them out, we encourage you to have a listen.
