South Burnett LDMG Moves to Alert Status for Tropical Cyclone Alfred

The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has activated Alert status in response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred as it tracks towards the southeast Queensland coast.
Current Situation

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasts that TC Alfred will become slow-moving before shifting westward towards the Queensland coast later today. Its intensity is expected to fluctuate between Category 1 and Category 2, with landfall predicted at Category 2 strength late on Thursday, March 6, or early Friday, March 7.
Although the cyclone is not expected to impact South Burnett directly, residents are urged to remain calm but prepared.

Be Prepared

LDMG Chair, Cr Danita Potter, is encouraging all residents to finalize their emergency preparations:

✔️ Assemble an emergency kit if you haven’t already. Find a checklist at Get Ready Queensland.
✔️ Secure loose objects in your yard to prevent hazards.
✔️ Council is working with SES to ensure sandbags are available in the coming days.

The LDMG will continue to work alongside partner agencies, including the Bureau of Meteorology and Queensland Police, to provide timely updates and monitor changing conditions.
