National Commemorative Service:

To mark the 75th anniversary of National Service (1951-1972), the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) will be holding a National Commemorative Service in Canberra on National Servicemen’s Day, 14 February 2026.

The service will also be broadcast nationally by the ABC.

More information about the National Commemorative Service will be published to this page as it becomes available. Please check back shortly.

2RAR Association - Veterans Health Week

DRIVE TO THRIVE - 2025 Sunday 30 Nov - free social event

This year’s focus encourages veterans and their families to build strong connections, stay active, and make healthier choices - not just during the week, but all year round.

Veterans Health Week 2025 theme of "Connect, Move, Nourish: Thrive 365" incorporates what the 2RAR Association aims to achieve with veterans 365 days a year. That is why DRIVE TO THRIVE is an activity for all veterans and their families.

The 2RAR Association would like to extend an invitation to all veterans and families to our Veterans Week run event

Location: Pandanus Park Golf Centre- Tompkins Road, Shaw, Townsville, QLD (Golf Driving Range undercover area)

When: Sunday 30 November from 4pm - 6pm
Dress: Anything you feel comfortable in to hit a Golf ball down range

This will be a free event for all veterans and families up to 20 pers.

A BBQ Dinner will also be provided by the Association.

It will be a day to come together, celebrate wellbeing, and taking steps toward thriving every day. It is an all age and abilities event, so even if you have never hit a golf ball before come down and join in the banter with some good company

Kiwi was born in Christchurch New Zealand and enlisted in the New Zealand Army on 11 January 1963 as a Regular Force Cadet (Service No. 40062). Posted to 1 Bn Depot Burnham and then to 1RNZIR at Terendak in Malaysia. Served in Borneo (1966) as an Assault Pioneer before going to South Vietnam (SVN) with Victor 1 Coy (The Originals) (13 May – 12 Nov 1967).

Kiwi took discharge in March 1968 and enlisted in the Australian Regular Army on 06 August 1968 to 5 Aug 1980 and Australian Army Reserve 17 Oct 1980 to 15 April 1994: Postings: 1 RTB (06 August 1968), Infantry Centre (15 November 1968), SAS Regt: 3 SAS Sqn (SVN 22 Dec 1969 – 17 Feb 1970), 1 SAS Sqn (SVN 18 Feb – 10 Dec 1970), 2 SAS Sqn (SVN 11 Aug – 11 Oct 1971), SAS Regt (10 November 1971), 1 RTB (05 November 1974), Attachments: 2 MD, Personnel Depot (15 Nov - 12 Dec 1976), SAS Support Sqn (13 January 19770, 2/4 RAR (06 June 1977), 5 Trg Gp (17 October 1980), North-West Mobile Force 28 March 1987.

Kevin, late of Success WA passed away on 8 Oct 2025, age 79 and is buried in Rockingham Regional Memorial Park, Baldivis WA.

Kevin was also a member of the 2 RAR Association.

Adam Kelly has advised that Kevin passed away suddenly at home.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Kev's funeral service to be held in the Chapel of Hogbin Drive Crematorium & Memorial Gardens, Stadium Drive, Coffs Harbour NSW on Thursday 27th November 2025 commencing from 11:30

Ex Service personnel are invited to attend.

Kev served with 2 RAR on OP Slipper (Afghanistan) 21 Sep 07 - 22 Mar 08 and was also a Sniper during his service (28 Jul 08-7 Jan 09)

In lieu of floral tributes the family would appreciate donations to the Black Dog Institute.

Livestream will be available for the service.
