On Friday, Iām having wrist surgery in Brisbane.
Theyāre fixing a subluxed tendon and shaving 3mm off my ulna.
And the estimated recovery time isā¦
6 to 12 months.
Yep. Thatās a long fu***ng time.š
This surgery is one of the big reasons I asked for my separation date to be deferred.
I want to be able to continue my medical care, start my hand therapy properly with an OT, and actually have some continuity of care before I walk out the Army gates and start navigating the DVA process.
Because medically separating isnāt as simple as being given a date and saying goodbye.
Thereās a whole other battle waiting on the other side (IYKYK) š³
So Thursday morning Iām flying to Brisbane for my pre-op appointment.
Friday is surgery and an overnight stay.
And Sunday, assuming everything goes to plan, Iāll be flying home to Townsville.
And thenā¦the long recovery begins.
Luckily, some absolute legends who have found my page have sent me books to keep me occupied while Iām recovering.
So apparently Iām going to become a reader. š
Because thereās only so much Netflix a girl can watch. But then I guess I also have Stan, Disney and Prime š
So this week, Iām taking you along for this part of The Second Mission.
Brisbane.
Surgery.
Recovery.
And whatever the hell comes after that.
P.s Drop the good binge worthy shows you have watched š
