🔥 Dancing on your own this weekend? Here are some "Social Distance Edits" to practice your sweet dance moves to.
Message from Rocksteady Records:
"Hey all, Peter Croce with Rocksteady Disco here. For the past few years I've been making a living strictly through music. As someone with a masters of social work it's sort of surreal-- although I've been a musician since I was 10 years old I never thought I could make a living at it. Like most people in the music industry I make that living off gigs, so suffice it to say the COVID-19 pandemic has hit my income really hard.
I started self-distancing March 14th, and basically got really good at playing Mario Kart and drinking mezcal. After a few days I finally felt inspired enough to put the finishing touches on a heap of edits that I've been playing at my parties and in my radio shows.
All of the edits were created in the time period between 2014 and 2020. Unsurprisingly there's peak hour disco, blissed out balearic, midtempo groovers, and music from around the globe. Many have never been released before (outside of sending to a few friends), and there's a few that have appeared on my personal Bandcamp.
So why edits? To me, editing is as much a part of DJing as digging for new music, beatmatching, blending, programming, and gain staging. The original artists/producers/engineers are the real legends here of course, but editing allows you to do something special for your particular dance floor or events. If you want more information on what I did with each track, click them individually. I wanted to take the time to explain what I did with each one.
Enjoy these for free or at a pay-what-you-want price. Thanks for being here.
Peter"
