The magazine I grew up reading… now has me in it. 🥹💗
I genuinely don’t think my younger self would believe this.
In 2016, my life changed completely, so to now be standing in a newsagent holding a copy of Marie Claire with myself inside it is one of those moments I really couldn’t have written for myself.
And what makes it even more special is being part of this incredible group of women. We’re all real women, with our own stories, bodies, experiences and reasons for being exactly who we are.
My scars from 83 surgery’s, my life line (picc) & my other visible differences are all shown. They are part of me. And don’t need to be hidden to be included.
FIGUR by Jules brought us women together to reshape expectations of what a modern woman looks like — and I’m so proud to be a small part of that change.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the women who have helped pave the way, and for the women beside me who continue to push those expectations forward.
Change happens through a team, a community, women supporting women, and all those little wins along the way that eventually become something much bigger.
“The modern icon isn’t manufactured. She’s lived” is a tag line that’s truly iconic! And a National Award Winner.
Disability is part of my story.
It just isn’t my headline. ❤️
Feeling very, very proud of this moment.
Showing me exactly as I am.
We all belong.
And I hope others from the disability and chronic illness community can see this representation too and see that we shouldn’t have to hide parts of us to be included 🫶🏻
