❤️ The Sharks Community Stands with the Symons Family ❤️

Many in our club will know Mattie Symons, who proudly played for the Sharks from 1993–1999 and represented our cricket club from 1993–2011.

Mattie has recently suffered a major stroke and faces a long road to recovery. On top of this, his family has been dealing with heart breaking challenges, including his mother’s battle with cancer.

We’re asking our Sharks family and the wider community to rally together ❤️ and support Mattie and his loved ones during this tough time.

As we watch the Block homes take shape in Daylesford plans are underway for the next season in Mount Eliza where contestants will make the most of Sorrento and the Mornington Peninsula.

The 2026 location is said to be 109 Old Mornington Rd, Mt Eliza, where the land was purchased for $11million

Employees from building company Nine in Six (who have worked on the show for 10 seasons) have been seen in the area having coffee in branded shirts, while the Herald Sun has reported that the Mt Eliza property was bought by the show earlier this week after intense negotiations. The $11m property was sold by former racing driver and Porsche enthusiast Rusty French, who purchased the site for $2.8m in 2007 and has been trying to sell it since 2016.

His more recent sales campaign included a subdivision of 10 blocks of land, with development plans that would have homes built with features like swimming pools and luxury finishes to complement the water views. It's unknown, however, if the show will change those designs before they shoot.

The latest from The Age.

Britt Groth releases an emotive statement in response to reports on how the couple met.

The Groths have launched legal action against the Herald Sun, both for defamation and serious invasion of privacy, after it published stories questioning whether their relationship began on an improper, and potentially criminal, basis.

Lawyers for the couple have also initiated defamation proceedings against Victorian Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas for comments she made in response to a question about the Groths at a press conference on Tuesday.

“I never imagined that I, a happily married woman in my thirties with children, would be forced to defend myself or my family against outrageous insinuations and a public dissection of my private life by a newspaper,” Brittany Groth said in a statement today.

The sandwich generation is the focus of a report to be released this Thursday in federal parliament undertaken by the Violet Foundation. The CARE Index 2025, is Australia's first national snapshot of how ready our families are to navigate ageing and caregiving. The Index measures readiness across five key areas: preparedness, planning, emotional toll, relationship strain, and competing priorities (aka the Sandwich Generation).
It was the first time SN had heard of the Foundation and looking it up online it’s full of support and information for us as we age and for those caring for ageing parents and friends. Here’s a sample podcast from the site. Let’s be honest - none of us are getting any younger and to be able to talk about our life plan with those close to us makes some things a little easier.

This week on Agehood, we’re having the conversation that matters most—but often happens least. Dr Kathryn Mannix is one of the world’s leading voices on dying well.…
