A young couple have their IDs checked outside Bacchus Marsh train station. They're boarding a van to Ballan Caravan Park for a neo-n**i gathering. An older attendee stands guard. Several dozen hand their licenses to the drivers of the vans. Other carpool. One wears an Australian flag like a cape. Another wears an "88" shirt as a local holds up a p**p emoji with a Hi**er moustache behind him. Other signs denigrate the gathering. Milk is thrown onto myself and at a n**i checkpoint outside the caravan park. The empty milk bottle is thrown at Jay's reversing car. They block us in, throw a punch at Jay and spit on us both. They try to break the window, they kick the bumper and doors and snap off a wing mirror. Victoria Police officers are waiting at the end of the road. They tape the mirror back on and continue monitoring who and what is entering the park.

OUT OF SIGHT
A one night only photographic exhibition that highlights a range of different photographic work by photographers from across Victoria.

Each year, the exhibition will explore a new theme, bringing fresh perspectives and stories to the walls of Revolver Upstairs.

This year’s theme, Chaos In The CBD looks at the fast-paced and unpredictable nature of life in Melbourne through the eyes of 16 photographers. Showing both the beauty and disorder that comes with it

2024 ends. Here's a few unpublished photos I've done this year that I'm proud of. It is such an honour to do this work, documenting life and humanity alongside the incredible photojournalists we have working here in Melbourne. I've met so many amazing people because I do this and, in spite of quite a lot, I wouldn't change that for the world. Thank you for being a part of it. I don't know that I'm feeling optimistic about this next year but, hey, here's hoping. Happy New Year, gang.
Alex ♡
