๐จโ๐ซ๐จโ๐ซ Lil lesson to start the week. So what can Quentin Tarantino and George Lucas possibly teach you about marketing, influence and persuasion?
Well, a few years ago, Quentin made a movie called "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" and he said something very intriguing I believe all real estate agents, and frankly all people wanting to get a marketplace's attention, but we all should take this advice to heart.
The context:
The plot of the movie is about a Hollywood actor and his stuntman in the late 60โs. And to make sure the movie is as authentic as possible, Quentin did the following:
* Wrote 5 episode scripts of the fictional TV show the actor stars in in the movie (the audience who sees the movie never see)
* Wrote out the main characterโs entire fictional back story and filmography, film by film
* Wrote out every single director the character worked with
* Wrote all the little stories, quirks, and anecdotes on the sets he worked on, how he got his roles, who the casting directors were, which movies worked, which bombed, etc etc etc.
Why did he do all this extra work?
And even though audiences wonโt see any of it or be entertained by it?
Because, as he put it in the interview:
โThey (the audience) need to know that I take this mythology this history seriously, and that there are answers to these questions. I donโt have to vomit it out but if you ask I could tell you. The writer needs to know that mythology backwards and forwards. You need to be able to throw it off with the expertise of an expert.โ
Lots of meat to unwrap in that tidy paragraph for us 'wanna be influence machines' (and I'm one of them, so not being derogatory)
George Lucas did the same thing when he wrote the entire Star Wars back story decades before releasing the prequel trilogy, and as the story goes, he wrote the prequel trilogy while he was writing the first one.
Jordan Peterson even said, if you want to teach someone something for an hour, you better be ABLE to teach 100 hours on that subject.
The DEPTH of your exerience and knowledge will OOZE through.
As opposed to someone who's watched a few Gary Vee videos and now wants to come across as a social media guru !!
You can feel the difference.
So a) beware the fake guru, and b) become the real guru.
