La Fetts - 'SEQEB Scabs'
By R. Hillier - Librarian, State Library of Queensland | March 17, 2017

In the year 2000, radio station 4ZZZ celebrated 25 eventful years of existence. To commemorate this milestone, a 2xCD compilation – ‘Behind the Banana Curtain’ – was released, documenting the musical highlights of these tumultuous two and a half decades. Many of the tracks included were known worldwide, others were very localised classics, never before released commercially. Each track however, had played an essential part in 4ZZZ’s history and in the underground musical heritage of Queensland.....

This very good quality video is the full 8½ hours of Back to the Beginning, a concert by Black Sabbath, with a number of supporting artists held on 5 July 2025 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, England, very near where the band was formed in 1968.

The event concluded with the final live performances of both the band and lead singer Ozzy Osbourne; it also marked the first time since 2005 that the original line-up of the band (Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward) had performed together live. Osbourne, no longer able to walk due to advanced Parkinson's disease, sang while seated on a throne.

The widely-lauded concert was streamed worldwide via pay per view with a broadcast delay. It featured an all-star lineup of supporting acts, including two supergroups of musicians serving as the house band. Proceeds from the event totalled £140 million, and will be donated to Acorns Children's Hospice, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Cure Parkinson's.

Submit Your Zed!
The 4ZZZ50 birthday campaign reaffirms the station's steadfast community focus by involving subscribers, listeners, and supporters, with an invitation to submit an original letter ‘Z’. The contributions will be pasted on the city's walls and posted across the web.

Instead of the top-down communication strategies of corporate branding, Zed supporters are building a visual celebration of the station’s 50th year from the ground up; community engagement instead of marketing's corporate estrangement.

4ZZZ, with dissident design studio Inkahoots, are calling for a ‘Z’ created in any medium, dashed off or painstakingly constructed — a creative birthday present for Australia’s first community broadcaster, from our community.

File requirements are at a minimum of approx 300 PPI/DPI, 2500 x 3500 pixels (JPG, PNG or TIF, EPS or PDF).

Include your name (real or not), and suburb in the file name.

Before she became a global icon with Blondie, Debbie Harry got her start in a psychedelic folk band called The Wind in the Willows. She joined the group in late 1966.

The band, named after the classic children’s book, released a self-titled album in 1968 on Capitol Records. Their sound was described as "twee folk-psych-rock," reflective of the era’s experimental vibe.

Members included:
Deborah Harry – vocals, acoustic guitar, tamboura, tambourine, finger cymbals
Wayne Kirby – vocals, double bass, piano, harpsichord, organ, vibes
Ida Andrews – flute, bassoon, piccolo, chimes, vocals
Peter Brittain – lead guitar, vocals
Paul Klein – vocals, guitar
Anton Carysforth – drums
Steve “Marvello” DePhillips – bass, vocals
Freddy – spiritual advisor

Seeing that the original lineup of Black Sabbath performed on July 5th in a one-off concert/festival in Birmingham, I thought it would be great to present some of my favourite songs from their early albums (from Black Sabbath to Never Say Die) on this week's show on July 7.
Included with them was short extracts from 3 documentaries about them; mostly including interviews will all 4 members.
I extended my show time over 2 hrs for this special (Midnight - 4:40am). So if you wish to listen back via On Demand, please click on these 2 links in succession: http://ondemand.4zzzfm.org.au/kaleidoscope http://ondemand.4zzzfm.org.au/gravy-train
