Sometimes we lose perspective as to how lucky we in Australia are.

Halima Rezayee with her children were fortunate enough to escape Afghanistan when the Taliban took the country over. Life for the Afghan people (women in particular) was turned on its head.

This week, on her birthday, Halima spoke with Tony Cox on Radio Mansfield about her journey which has ultimately ended up in Mansfield. She has rapidly become an amazing contributor to our community, both adding a unique cultural flavour and being a constant reminder to us all how fortunate we are to live where we do.

We are delighted you have joined us Halima to create a little slice of Afghan-sfield in our tow

Tomorrow from 10am listen to Guy Elliott's "Tech Chat" program where he will provide updates happening in the world of anything and everything tech. Having a problem with your phone, laptop, tablet or PC? Text your issue into Guy at 0499 654 967 and he will attempt to provide you with the solution.

Then from midday till 2pm on the MaN (Murray and Neil) Show, the boys will be having a chat to ex Carlton and St Kilda star Ken Sheldon. Neil and Ken know each other socially and there's plenty of footy stories to be told. Remember, it was Ken who kicked the winning goal in the 1979 Grand Final after Wayne Harmes somewhat contraversially knocked the ball back in play from (some argue) Brunton Avenue. Listen in to hear what Ken has to say about this and many other tidbits.

Then from 2pm to 4, Oscar Jones takes the baton with his program, the O-Zone, full of great music to while the afternoon away.

Join Radio Mansfield for a great day's entertainment on 99.7FM.

Last Sunday Radio Mansfield had a gathering of its presenters and members at the Delatite Hotel.

Sensational entertainment was delivered via the talents of Reiley Schelfhout, Year 9 student at Mansfield Secondary College, Ella Crathern, Year 12 student at Mansfield Steiner School and of course our very own presenter, Ian W. Beer who highlighted songs from his new CD, ‘The Last Chance Hotel’.

Given Radio Mansfield’s commitment to showcasing and encouraging local young talent we were excited to be able to support these young local artists (and Ian) at the event.

Our commitment to Mansfield Youth Radio is also another example of our support of local young people.

During the MaN Show this Saturday sometime between midday and 2pm, we will have a fireside chat with prominent Mansfield identity, Rolf Koren.

Rolf has been a stalwart of the community in many areas over a number of decades, notably in the entertainment scene through his involvement in MMuDS and as a hugely talented musician.

There are many dimensions to Rolf and we'll aim to un-layer the onion as we explore his time in the district.

We hope you can tune in to hear his story.

It is with great sadness Radio Mansfield announces the passing of one of its own, Tony Froud.

For many years Tony volunteered his services on air with his "Monday Lunch Box" and "Jokers Wild" programs. Always professional and always entertaining, Tony brought his own unique mix of gravitas and humour to the airwaves.

He was both a respected on-air talent and committee representative over the journey.

He will be greatly missed by his loyal listeners and everyone at Radio Mansfield.

We extend our sincere sympathies to Marion at this time.

Tony passed on Monday July 21 after a brave cancer battle.

His funeral will take place at 1pm at McCormacks Chapel, 11 Highett St, Mansfield, next Friday August 1.

Tony used to sign off his programs with the statement "Keep on Chooglin" - a reference to his favourite Creedence Clearwater Revival album. Tony will continue to "choogle" on in our hearts and memories.
