🎉 ON THIS DAY IN AUSTRALIAN SPORTING HISTORY 🥣🇦🇺

Did you know…? Australia’s very first lawn bowls club was formed in 1845 beside the Bowling Green Hotel in Sandy Bay, Tasmania. ⛵️🏆

It was the starting point of a sport that would go on to become a much-loved Aussie tradition, bringing communities together for competition, camaraderie, and plenty of laughs on and off the green.

Although the club closed in 1853, its legacy lives on every time a bowl rolls down a perfectly manicured rink. 🌿

Here’s to 180 years of lawn bowls in Australia, a sport built on precision, patience, and great mateship. 👏
