All round good guy, DJ and Co-Founder of Melbourne Techno Collective, Jay Reading just loves music. His sets take this love and transfer it to the dance-floor in a style that’s unique and undoubtedly his own.
Not one to follow trends, Jays ethos has stayed the same from the beginning.
“I want to play the music I love and believe in and hopefully leave a good impression on the audience. The way I approach it is to feel like I’m a caretaker of the music. It’s my job to put other people’s music together in a meaningful way that tells a story, different situations require different stories. There are often multiple dj’s playing alongside me, I also have to make sure they can do the same. I like this balancing act, people want to have a good night and that’s the most important thing.”
Whilst Melbourne Techno Collective continues to thrive, Jay has shown his diversity over the years by holding down residencies at some of Melbourne’s most popular venues playing House, Disco, Electro, Hip Hop and R&B. Playing Techno he’s supported the likes of Technasia, Echoplex, Kazu Kumira, Dj Godfather, Nick Hoppner, Steve Rachmad and at festivals, Earthcore and Babylon.
